i think they all got bought up by wanna-be ricers, taken halfway apart, and abandoned due to lack of money and knowledge. 11/21/2013 9:12:47 PM |

I've discovered that my wife's first car was a Talon TSi (which is a little odd because she doesn't care about cars at all). She described it as "zippy".
Alas, it was totaled before I met her. 11/22/2013 2:53:46 AM |

^^ My father-in-law, a Cardiologist, had a Talon TSi in the late nineties, which I find hilarious. He likes cars although he's not what I would call a car guy, and for some reason the idea of a conservative doctor going into a dealer and buying a Talon TSi is really strange to me. He loved that car though, although I think my wife and her sister thought it was too ricey heh.
Sometimes it seems like the whole Eagle thing made those cars end up in weird hands, ya know? 11/22/2013 10:20:49 AM |

I had an old (like prob 70-something) British dude as a thermodynamics professor in MAE at State. He drove a Talon TSi. 11/22/2013 1:32:03 PM |

Talons are for those in the know. (2k cheaper when I was looking)
But now they are all either 9sec drag monsters or in the garbage. 11/22/2013 2:49:44 PM |

Keep in mind though that sometimes it's a much different crowd buying them new than modding them when they get off warranty. On this same Mitsubishi note, take the 3000GT, which was competing with the Supra. I know there's a significant amount of hate for them, but now most of the early model years are very cheap used. But when they were new, the twin turbo models cost a lot. While it was cheaper than a 3000GT In the same way a Talon or Eclipse turbo AWD wasn't really a cheap car new, before the magic of depreciation. So it's not surprising a Cardiologist was driving one back in the day.
Check out this old review of the Talon TSi AWD from right when it went in production: http://www.cars.com/eagle/talon/1990/expert-reviews they are listing base price as $18k , which inflation calculator calls $32k. That's the price of a Mustang GT now.11/23/2013 3:48:48 PM |

The 3000s are cheap because the head gaskets go an you either have to pull the engine or take the entire dash apart to fix it. 11/24/2013 7:02:30 AM |
