Apparently being an Administrator on a Windows 8 home machine doesn't mean what it used to. I'm trying to get to the User Rights Assignments (typically under admin tools/local security policy/local policies) to change the debug programs setting to administrator.

From what I've read a lot of the tricks to get into the policy settings aren't accessible with a home edition of Windows 8. Maybe something I'm missing?

If you're talking about Group Policy, the Editor isn't normally available in Home editions; I used this for Windows 7 Home, but it apparently works on 8 and 8.1: http://www.askvg.com/how-to-enable-group-policy-editor-gpedit-msc-in-windows-7-home-premium-home-basic-and-starter-editions/
