I look forward to Neil DeGrasse Tyson ripping apart it's spaceflight inaccuracies. I'll probably go with my NASA friends and do the same thing.

I'm sure I'll still enjoy it though. Despite it's inaccuracies, I enjoyed Gravity.

McConaughey has been terrible outside of Dazed and Confused

[Edited on May 19, 2014 at 2:52 PM. Reason : But I never question Nolan, see Hathaway, Ledger, etc. ]

McConaughey has definitely gone from playing the "pretty boy stoner dude who takes his shirt off" role to being a legit actor after seeing his parts in Dallas Buyers Club and True Detective. I will watch just about anything he puts out now, including this.

He had a pretty small part, but I thought he was great in Wolf of Wall Street. He won a bunch of awards for his role in Bernie too.

Just read a Cracked article about this movie. I hope they were kidding about the plot. If not, the whole article was a huge spoiler.

Oh well. If what that article said was correct, it sounds pretty crazy.

So what is the difference between 70mm, 30mm, and digital IMAX? The movie is going to be showing in all three I think.

there's no reason to not watch this in IMAX. It's Nolan's calling card. That's the difference.

Wonder if this will be as good as The Fountain or Tree of Life in the "chasing my directorial 2001" category.

I still don't think Nolan has a truly great movie except for Memento.

^^70mm and 30mm are both forms of IMAX. I was asking what the difference is between those IMAX versions and digital IMAX.

Getting a bit worried. Not reading any reviews but looking at the headlines for reviews looks like it may not meet the hype.

Still watching it this weekend

As long as they don't go through the wormhole, find the perfect Earth 2.0, only to realize it IS EARTH a million years in the future.

I read the plot online before it got taken down. Decent story with one hell of a surprise in the second act, but I can see why the critics are not flamboyantly gay about this one yet.

Sucks there's no real 70mm IMAX in NC. There is one however right next to my work in Colorado.

https://interstellar.withgoogle.com/imax-experience-in-70mm

The only real 70mm IMAX in NC is discovery place in Charlotte but they rarely have movies like this and it's a different viewing experience than a normal IMAX.

They had an early screening here last night. Didn't get a chance to see it due to some prior obligations but talked to some folks at work who said it was prob the best space movie they've ever seen.

Sidenote: I work with a lot of space geeks (myself being one of them) so the opinion is probably biased

Actually apparently there is one real IMAX in North Carolina:

https://www.imaxraleigh.org/aboutus/experience

Not listed on any IMAX or Intersteller sites but they're playing it.

Yall should go there or bust.

--Although I don't think they got the actual 70mm version because it's not listed anywhere.

Buddy tweeted to IMAX and got this reply:

Quote :
"I tweeted IMAX Raleigh twice, and got this reply: Our theater wasn't chosen for a 70 mm upfit (closest theater would be DC) Our GIANT screen will be the best place in NC!

Virginia's IMAX is probably closer (and I'm not driving through DC on purpose, are you insane?) and plus the plan is to see it in Tennessee on a mini-4 or 5 day vacation I'm taking."

Sucks for you guys. Buddy said it was a life changing experience.
