Good-looking car, I like it except for those wheels on it. If that's a vinyl roof make sure there's no rust underneath.

You could compare notes with sumfoo1, he's building a '61 4-door. The work is a *bit* more extensive, but...

If it's in as good of shape as it looks that's an awesome deal... If it was reprinted and bondoed to look good while having rot in all the hidden places (inner fenders behind the bumpers etc) then you'll spend more in body work then the car is worth.

My thoughts are:

1 car looks legit and I love them
2 goddamnit a year ago I HAD the only galaxie of anyone I know now if you get that one I'll know of 4 wtf.

It looks like there might be a small amount of rust on top of the fender in the engine bay, visible in the last picture, on the far fender. I can't tell for sure.

If the body and interior was done 5-6 years ago I think you'll have a pretty good idea of how well it's holding up and what the next 5-10 years is going to look like when you see it in person.

Is there a trim piece missing under the passenger rear tail light?

Some of the wiring in the engine bay looks like a bit of a hack job...It's almost like they didn't have a 2' piece of wire, so they made one out of a bunch of scraps and butt connectors. Looks like a high schooler's stereo rig. Super easy fix, but I hope it's not indicative of the quality of the rest of the build.

Looks like there is a good bit of orange peel in the paint, so it might not be quite as nice in person as it appears in the pics. I'm not putting the car down for it (especially at this price)...Just pointing it out. Getting a show car finish on these older cars can take a ton of labor and add a lot to the build price, so I wouldn't worry too much as long as it looks suitable to you and it's holding up well.

for that price you don't need showroom shine, just a running engine and then throw that shit on airbags

Is a 352 right ? So you'll need intake and cam to wake her up at all.
Otherwise she's gonna have 220hp from idle to redline.

^^ Maybe it's this one:

It is a 220hp motor with a 2bbl carb.

$1-1.1k to ship..

I spoke with the guy on the phone today. The previous owner put $14k in it, then sold it. There is zero rust according to seller.

Said he would do $7.5k plus shipping. I'm going to talk to my wife when she gets off work.

If you are serious about buying it, I'll get it for you.

Buy me a one way ticket to pick up said vehicle. ~2,800 miles away from your house... soo figure about 4 days for me to drive it across the US and deliver to your doorstep.

I'm damn serious about this D. I'll do it if you pay for the trip.

As much as he played that up in the listing [and to you on the phone], I'm doubting the prior owner put that much money in it. Hell there would probably be receipts involved if that was the case...and it doesn't sound like there are any iirc.

What does the guy say he paid for it?

But does look like a nice car for $7.5k for sure.

No you're not. And even if you were [see previous sentence], unless it's over $7.5k it's not gonna matter.

Sounds like an excuse for a road trip. Fly out, drive back? Sure, between the air fare, gas, and motel rooms, you'd proabably be in for just as much $ but it'd be a fun experience. Cross-country in a '63 Galaxie. Good times.

Lol skack.... After my years worth of work on my galaxie im well aware there was a hipo but I also knew it was from 1960 only and would have looked completely different also the motor alone would be worth more than this entire car. (As mine will be after the 427 sits under the hood but even more so because there are barely any hipo 352s in existence).

It's kinda funny. I got my gal because it was cheap and I could make it fast.... Now I love it so much I almost want another to build a NASCAR clone with....

have you ever performed any car restoration/resto-mod/modification before? I think it's 100% believable.

$7.5k is what he is asking, we don't know that we wouldn't sell it for less and we don't know what his reserve is. I don't have $7k in my "fun" account, but I've got enough for a decent offer.

Yup...first car was a 67 Mustang which needed a shitload of body work. I'm not saying the number is unbelieveable, I'm saying people say all sorts of shit when it's time to sell a car, and we're hearing that shit second-hand now. Also how the hell does the prior owner have this car, which we'll say he probably had to at least pay a few grand for, and then pour $14,000 into then turn around and sell it for $6.7k?

Still haven't bid yet right? Sounds like it's too rich for your blood anyway as you have to factor in the $1k to get it back here.

I thought about fly-n-drive, but the winter is kicking the mid-west ass right now.

I wasn't able to talk to my wife last night, as it was too late and she was still working.
I asked my dad if he wanted to go in on it with me (has been talking about getting a galaxie for about 5 years), and he apparently decided he would rather have a 34 coupe.

Still on the fence about it myself, as I don't need to drop 8k on another toy.
Just thinking it would be nice to have, and not likely to really go down in value.

I'm also the guy who had a -400% return on investment with a VW, so I'm used to burning money on cars.

^^My GTI was purchased for ~20k
Motor/trans ~$4k
Big turbo ~$4k
Body work ~$4k
Stereo ~$3k
Air Ride~$4k

Sold for $8k, and extra parts for $1k

That was a negative sign in front of the 400%

Agreed there--a nice, clean, driver '63 is going to be a pretty solid investment if you don't overpay (which this does not sound like overpaying). Just don't go crazy with mods once you get it...

Polar fucking opposites.

One is a torquey 220hp big block
The other is a high winding 220hp small block.

Ok. I ask because there is a local galaxy that needs a little more work has a 289, and is roughly half the cost.

289 is super cheap to get parts for though since it's just a de-stroked 5.0

So I'm building a built fe motor now... I have about 22k in the engine and I could probably have built a small block (like the 289) more like a 351 stroked to 427 for half that and had similar hp numbers but wouldn't have the cool factor of being an fe motor.

If you're going to leave the engine mostly stock, you'll appreciate the 352 much more. If you're going to build it, the 289 won't pick your pocket and then taunt you.

AKA what sumfoo1 just said.

No.... They are cool cars but this isn't a rare model code and the full size cars aren't really hot right now.

A mint condition galaxie with a 352 is probably worth 10 max unless it's all original with 10,000 original miles or something.
