Aside from the lovely weather, what else should I check out in Portland? Heading there for Valentine's tonight and staying in the Benson, which is apparently haunted.

Pearl District is pretty cool. If you can, try to do the Columbia River Gorge in the morning- Multnomah Falls is a nice hike 2/14/2014 7:59:24 PM |

I liked Alberta St., and stayed in Southeast. Lots of little quirky coffee shops and cafes. Of course, rode a bike around town. Drove out south of town and checked out Bagby Hot Springs up in the mountains. Also went over the border to Vancouver, WA, where lots of commuters live. 2/14/2014 8:43:21 PM |

please give updated recs on which part of town to stay in. I'm thinking of airbnb but it would also be hip if there is a hip hotel in the hip part of town. 10/31/2016 11:06:10 PM |

The area Downtown by the waterfront is lame (avoid the Marriott), but the Pearl District is alright, although super yuppie. Old Town is cool, but parts are sketchy, so know where you're going. If you want hipster, stick to anything near Powell's on Hawthorne. Alberta is fine too. 11/1/2016 12:02:38 PM |
