While I loved his work on SNL, I'm not sure how well it will transition to Late Night. I'm optimistic though.

Premieres on Monday, 2-24.

Indeed.

Can't expect a home run at one's first at bat?

I'm thinking how diverse Fallon's talents are, and how Myers may not be in the same league. Meh, way too early for that talk.

I would never expect a home run of a first episode

just an observation of the first ten minutes, not a complaint

I didn't realize it until tonight, but I guess I am a bit of a set nerd? not really into this set.

The desk being so far from the wall is weirding me out.

Also, lighting is gonna be weird for a week or so on both new shows. When WRAL moved to their HD set years ago, everyone's skin looked insane.

The set is very minimalist for me...maybe it'll work.

I hope so. too damn bright and too damn blue

it reminds me of the Laugh Factory

[Edited on February 25, 2014 at 1:20 AM. Reason : feels more like an afternoon talk show and not Late Night]

having never heard of A Great Big World before 45 minutes ago, I was hoping that it was going to be a joke band from Fred

a quick google search tells me I'm wrong

I've heard this song before. That's all I've got.

Here's a thing I haven't thought about: other than the rare Letterman mention of someone he genuinely likes, the CBS guys never personal say who's coming on the show in the future.

not to get too wonky, but that may have something to do with CBS having waaay more primetime viewers than NBC

So what that's low class or something?

no, i just find it odd

conan, leno, fallon, & meyers regularly announce(d) upcoming guests themselves

letterman does it very rarely and ferguson never does it

part of me thinks that Letterman probably has zero idea who or what is coming in the days and weeks ahead.

He's clearly better from behind a desk than standing up. He should do his monologue from the desk daily show/colbert report style. In fact he could pretty much do a weekend update style intro every night like those shows do.

Also, I don't hate his set but how the hell is he gonna have more than one guest at a time?

^ They put another chair on the riser. Biden and Poehler were sitting together the first night.

I thought the Kanye and RW interviews were very good, though obviously enjoyed the first a little more than the second. And yeah as far as Kanye crazy talk goes, he wasn't coming too hard with it. Maybe he's...happy???

^^i'll agree there. it just got away from Seth there for a little too long where I was worried he wouldn't recover. Thank goodness poehler gave him that tutorial the night before

Love whoever shouted out Wolfpack during Russel's interview

Like late night w/ jimmy, I usually watch on DVR or hulu the next day or two. Still need to watch wed & thurs (thurs & fri?) ep

I gave it a shot but it just is very unpolished all around and awkwardly unfunny to me at times. I'll give it some time and come back to see if the show has settled in (because Fallon was shaky at first too). However for now, I have a hard time finding stuff to like about this show (Fred Armisen may be the best part for me oddly).

Also the set is an all-around miss for me. Those doors are cheesy, the changing chair setup is awkward, the lighting is still weird, the stair layout is horrendous and his desk placement seems like it is floating in no-man's land. I'm probably being too critical though

Right now, this show is not good.

I'm not saying it won't get better, but it's not good.

Step 1: monologue at the desk, talk to Fred more.

yes.

And I'm not the only one who has noticed that the stairs have either tripped up or appeared awkward for multiple guests already right?
