didn't see it already, should be started since spring training games are just around the corner (next week I think?).

who you got in the playoffs this year?

also, this is bullshit:

don't know both sides, but it just looks real real bad for PHI

Coincidentally Derek Jeter also announced his retirement this offseason.

Derek Jeter? Yeah he's been pretty mediocre for a while now, but he's always been an average-at-best fielder

He's still a hall of famer for his career, but obviously you can't play at the same level when you're in the upper 30s or whatever he is (unless you roid like bonds)

He's pretty much always been a below average fielder. He has never deserved to be a gold glove short stop. It's the most legitimate criticism of him out there.

He's a first ballot HOFer in spite of his fielding.

he makes a lot of plays look harder than they really are, dives for balls that someone with better range could get to fairly easily, etc. some people just equate effort with skill in his case and throw a fit whenever someone suggests he's not a very good shortstop defensively.

I guess I see plays like flying into the stands and it looks awesome and you guys say he doesn't need to do that?

I think some of the talk of him being the greatest Yankee ever is laughable when he's not even top-5

Plus that play is like 10 years old. Even if he was an ok fielder, he's not anymore

He hasn't been the best defensive ss on his own team for most of his career let alone a gold glove caliber defensive player. He'll probably see a lot of DH this year.

Saw something online a few months back that Nats/Os games may finally be able to viewed in NC with a resolution to that bullshit MASN/TWC fight. Anyone know if that ever happened?

Yankees pitcher Michael Pineda caught on television using pine tar. Seems there are pictures floating around where he has done this in more than one game.

Danny Salazar - first player in MLB modern era to have 10 strikeouts in first 4 innings of a game. Too bad he also got the loss.

Johnathan Villar, Jose Altuve and Scott Feldman. I knew the first two for Fantasy baseball purposes and the last one because he pitched against the Rangers today. Time to go check if I'm right and all three of those are actually on the Astros.

edit- Apparently I typoed Villar's first name but the other two were good. Close enough.

Do they still have chris carter? I think there's a JD Martinez or something.. I should be able to remember their 3B and catcher but they're slipping my mind right now. Brett olberholtzer or something.. Hmm George springer later in the year.

Edit: damn apparently Martinez went to Detroit. I got two

What, you mean like still not getting it right despite clear views on replay? It's almost like the umps don't want it to succeed....

Seriously though, if the viewer at home can get 5 different angles instantly there's no reason not to have that same capability for the umpires. Even better would be just having it reviewed by an official at the MLB offices like the NHL does for goals. Review by one person or one group of people separate from the folks who made the original call would help with consistency and with limiting pride, i.e. not wanting to admit when you're wrong, which MLB umps have a huge problem doing.

Shit, so it is. For some reason I thought the on site umps reviewed it. For the replay office not to have the same angles and replays that the fans in the stadium and at home had is totally inexcusable.

I see Carlos Gomez was up to his usual horseshit today in their game against the Pirates. If there was one player that deserved a season ending injury, its that guy.

Ehh, Gomez is kind of a tool, but maybe if the pitcher hadn't been over at 3rd base woofing at him it wouldn't have been shit. If he had just plunked him next time up like baseball's asinine unwritten rules require there wouldn't have been a brawl.

^Gotta be the dumbest dude in sports at the moment. You already know that people are looking at you expecting to see this "dirt mixed with sweat" you called it...so you go and put it in the most visible spot you can...on your neck. Why not underneath your sleeve on your arm? That would be much more concealable. What an idiot.
