Will be pulling a 22' enclosed trailer with either a dodge viper or plymouth prowler on board. Looking at something that has the capacity of towing 10k pounds. Will be parked a lot, will only use occasionally, but when it is used it will be pulling 1000+ miles round trip. I like diesel but they seem to be going at a premium. If a truck it will need to be a 4 door.

Right now we are pulling it with dads 2008 Lincoln Navigator L, and it pulls fine, he just doesnt want the wear and tear on his daily driver.

If you use it occasionally and it will sit most of the time, seems like 2008 navigator your dad has will be fine and not accumulate that much wear and tear. Isn't navigator built on truck frame anyway? Euros tow trailers with their cars. I think you'll be fine.

How often will you be towing? Unless that Navi racks up a lot of miles otherwise, I don't see why he wouldn't continue to pull with that if it works well. Close to ideal vehicle for the job, other than that a diesel would probably be more efficient.

Tow maybe 2 - 3 times a year. I agree the Navigator pulls it fine, but he wants something that can sit with the trailer. Reason being is he is buying another car and wants to pull the trailer in straight into its parking spot to use it to store another car and have access to that car while the trailer is parked. Unfortunately doing that, whatever pulls it into that spot does not have a way to unhitch and pull exit. Other option we are thinking of is a 4 wheeler or UTV to put the trailer where he wants it (while empty). I just havent seen a 4 wheeler that I think would be strong enough to pull the empty trailer (weighs ~2700 lbs empty) and parked on gravel with a SLIGHT incline.

Here is the area we are working with. the red arrow is where we back the trailer in. would like to pull it straight into this area, but cant get a tow vehicle out of there. Yellow is property line.

how would a new tow vehicle solve that? anything you pull straight in will be blocked

get a battery powered trailer dolly or just add a push bar to the back of your trailer and push it into position

add a drive gate to the fence, a garage door on the back of the garage and wham! you have room to get the tow vehicle out of the backyard.
