The point is that working with one band full-time doesn't mean the other band doesn't exist. It just means you can't do two tours at once.

I have a ticket to Sylvan Esso AND Alt-J on Friday. I will probably sell my Alt-J ticket. Maybe on TWW.

I love this new track they wrote for an episode of Radiolab.

Here's a link to the full Radiolab episode:
http://www.radiolab.org/story/elements/

They wrote the song for a girl with bipolar named Jamie. The backstory is pretty neat. After hearing that story behind the song, I wanted to pay closer attention to the song lyrics. So here's my attempt at transcribing those, probably not perfect:

Quote :
"jamie’s song

it’s not me you’re talking to
gently dancing in my room
through the light beam arc
i’m all stops and starts
i’m all space and stars

i’m a brilliant machine
composed of softer beings (?)
compassion ache, scale bends and sways
another nova on the way

though the constant feels constant, i’m breaking up
the choices i make will all fade to dust
while the metal is shifting i’m waking up
i remember, i remember what i thought i was

it’s not me you’re watching move
slam dancing round my room
faster, faster til i bloom
keep on blooming, keep on blooming.
dragging me down though i keep moving
keep on blooming, keep on blooming.
dragging me down though i keep moving

though the constant is constant, i’m breaking up.
as i grow i’m so tired that i’m too beat to stop
while the metal is shifting, i’m breaking up
i remember, i remember what i thought i was

keep on blooming, keep on blooming (oh yeah)
dragging me down though i keep moving. "

I really dig the song, it's up there with my favorites from them.

DIEYOUNG

But it's general admission and it's a big field in the middle of nowhere, so I don't think a sellout is an immediate worry.

They're doing a WITH tour streaming show next Thursday, but I don't understand why they're pushing "watch parties with your friends" given the orders in place

that album is great but unlike any of their live shows before that mini tour

musically, their live shows are pretty much all the same, it’s just she’s a star who is a joy to see perform live

Yes that tour was something special. I saw both nights at DPAC, one night in the 2nd row.

Maybe they'll keep some elements of the larger band? Probably not but it would be cool.

[Edited on May 24, 2020 at 12:07 AM. Reason : Was awesome to hear these songs in a very new way]
