Wye Oak's "Civilian"

I've always thought the latter half of the line "I don't need another friend when most of them I can barely keep up with them" sounds p awkward.

On a very similar note, "world in which we live in" in "Live and Let Die" drives me nuts.

^^
For some reason, that doesn't bother me, but the line "It is to you I give this to" in the Rain Song always irks me.

oh wait, it's "I give this tune." I suck.

"geese in flight and dogs that bite" from Carolina in my mind is the single worst lyric in the history of music.

"Carolina in my Mind" went from a song that was either neutral to me, or partially "patriotic" (in a State-sense) when I was younger, to a song I loathe nowadays that I associate with Walmart UNC fans who only attended Carolina "in their mind"

That was on purpose, cobain has stated that he thinks guitar solos are stupid so he did a mock one

This song doesn't "totally rule", but I'd find "Hey Baby" by No Doubt more tolerable without "All the girls wanna get with the boys and boys really like it"

geddy lee sucks

james taylor is only good in two-lane blacktop

98% of lyrics are dumb

if you ignore them, the quality of your musical experiences will skyrocket

first two that come to mind:

the intro to "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" by Pink Floyd (not the only one they do that)

the intro to "Here I Go Again" by Whitesnake.

sure, many lyrics are dumb. maybe this is partly due to the fact that rhyming is generally pretty silly. most contemporary poetry worth anything doesn't follow a strict rhyme scheme. but even in the land of 98% dumbness there are lines that stick out extra and take me out of the music against my will. accepting that sports for example and literally every other human activity is existentially pretty dumb and silly doesn't dampen my primal investment and allow unconditional enjoyment. I generally try to find the good in and enjoy things but it's still a slight bummer and eyeroll when I realize best coast will never stop prominently using the words sky high die crazy ~*bummer*~ summer. not that she "totally rules" or rules at all anymore.

lol I'm rambling and probably making zero sense and responding disproportionately but the 8 hour train I'm on has become a 13 hour train and I'm delirious.

Depends on how you define intro. For me, once the guitar solo starts up, shit is choice.

Also, the weird freak out section in "Whole Lotta Love".

she's a one trick pony who had a great debut of that one trick

I'll always love the debut of that one trick, and her, for a few other reasons
