the rider account holder compensates for cleaning etc if something happens, there is also insurance through the Uber company for other things

Uber got themselves inserted into iOS and Android Google Maps as public transit options.

To be fair, I only really started using it in 2012. It used to be pretty pricey/not worth it until UberX. I actually used SideCar first.

Are Uber drivers and their vehicles subject to the same inspections that Taxi Taxi drivers and their vehicles are subject to?

[Edited on June 21, 2014 at 11:54 PM. Reason : and the same licensing requirements for the drivers???]

Getting one in Charleston. I don't go out enough to get excited about this...and when I do, I ride my bike and walk a lot...however, it is incredibly tough to get a taxi in a reasonable time here. So just the addition of another large taxi service should help everyone one out (and me in the two or three times a year I might need one).

No special class license or inspection required... Although, I wouldn't be surprised if there was legislation soon in the works to change that... Nothing gets passed quicker than legislation to increase the budget

i've recently started using uber around here, and i don't know why the fuck i waited so long. it's nice not having to worry about whether the driver is going to tell you to get out when you ask him to take you to arlington.

to be fair, i've had some really nice cab drivers too, so i feel bad that they're kind of getting screwed. but maybe it'll force the DC cab companies and cab union to re-think some of their shitty practices. and i'm not even anti-union.

I hope they kill all taxi services. The way taxis operate is indefensible now that uber has developed something much better.

So girl puked in my car at peak surge time not only did she get puke all down the side of my car but I missed out on at least $50.... And then no tip

I mean I had to charge a cleaning fee.... But if you puke in someone's car.... Can you at least give them a fat tip to make up for some of the lost income?

Her friends were with her and we even went to cookout.

They did help wipe my car of a little and the girl apologized and seemed to feel bad

It comes with the territory, Klaty.

I've never puked in an Uber because I'm a somewhat put together adult, but I'm sure it happens on Friday/Saturday nights on the regs.

i thought we clearly established that Uber drivers shouldn't expect a tip. So why would you expect one if someone got sick in your car?

Well, first off it happened during peak hours where I actually make money. Once I thoroughly cleaned my car there is still a distinct puke smell and to top it off I missed all of the other calls I had. I missed out on a bunch of money and it turns out I'm only getting compensated for the $6 car wash I went to.

No, I don't expect tips, but unfortunately that girl killed my most profitable night .... I took them to cookout ( which I don't have to do because it's my car) and her more sober friends just laughed the entire time because their friend hurled during a face chat.

I get tipped by people who are courteous and clean, even when I tell them is not necessary. I guess I should just take the nice people tips and just use that to balance out pukers.

I get paid, yes, but I don't get paid THAT much
