Friend of mine and I have been debating for a while.

He says wake forest because of balance(duncan teague paul) but I say Texas easily (durant aldridge).

But what other teams would be good?

UCLA would be right up there
Westbrook
Collison
Holliday
Love

All of the top college programs would have good teams but Texas and Wake obviously have the superstars. Funny how most of the superstars seem to have been high school, international, or midmajor players.

yeah, his shooting would be essential

also didn't include fucking Rondo, or Marquis Teague, or Doron Lamb, or Patrick Patterson, or Chuck Hayes, or Keith Bogans (who is technically still in the NBA), or Nazr Mohammed [or Deandre Liggins, or Josh Harrelson]

that's partially because Tubby Smith didn't start Rondo (in his defense, Ramel Bradley was a better shooter and had a lot of moxie) and then Billy Gillespie came in and bitterly shit over every parcel of land in Lexington

Why the fuck would any great NBA UK team include bums like Marquise Teague and Doron Lamb? And if you include that dreg you need to start mentioning more impactful players for schools like Duke such as the Plumlees.

And for posterity even though many have fallen off as they age

Kemba
Gordon
Rip
Allen
Drummond
Villanueva (yuck now)
Gay

Etc...

[Edited on April 27, 2014 at 8:46 AM. Reason : and before you say it each of those players was far better than Lamb\Teague in their day]

I wouldn't, which is why I didn't. I simply mentioned them, along with a handful of other guys, after listing off a legit UK alum NBA team, to point out how filled the Association is with former Wildcats.

and neither M Teague or Doron Lamb are bums. maybe they won't ever make a significant impact in the NBA, but at the moment both are super young guys (Teague could be entering his senior year and Lamb is just a year ahead of him) whose early careers have been spent on difficult teams with limited opportunities to develop their game and find their niche. for the non-All Pro, the biggest non-effort, non-ability factor for career success is the situation you're placed in. most players need the right coach, system, teammates to excel.

don't be a jerkoff sports fan. you're obviously better than that.

not if you're talking about Xavier Henry. he was committed to Memphis, but switched to Kansas after Calipari bolted for Kentucky.

An all-time UK NBA team without this former Hornet?

UNLV would at least be Final Four:

LJ
Reggie Theus
Armon Gilliam
Stacey Augmon
Greg Anthony
Bench: Shawn Marion, Isaiah Rider, Anthony Bennett, Sidney Green, Anderson Hunt

And come on, I know we want to ignore UNC, but...

Jordan
Worthy
Bob McAdoo
Billy Cunningham
Antawn Jamison
Bench: Carter, Sam Perkins, Walter Jones, Bobby Jones, Charlie Scott, Rasheed Wallace, Jerry Stackhouse

I could have been less of a dick but my point stands. None of those guys are worth mentioning. Shit UConn has Jeremy Lamb, Hilton Armstrond and Jeff Adrien still playing but I wouldn't mention those in this type of conversation. Of course guys like Rondo and Bledsoe could be...

what was the name of that really good, tough player Wake had, probably around 2004-2005 that looked like the bad guy from the original Clash of the Titans?

Fine I'll do the NC State all-time team:

Nate McMillan
Vinny Del Negro
David Thompson
Tom Gugliotta
JJ Hickson

Bench: Thurl Bailey, Spud Webb, Tom Burleson, Chucky Brown, Kenny Carr

Best I could do.

^^^ yes! that guy was one of my favorite college players, always seemed to really bust his ass and while he was pretty highly touted recruit he seemed to play above his ability. Was hard to root against him even as a State fan (lol)

they were worth mentioning because my intention was to jerkoff over the abundance of Kentucky players on NBA rosters [i mentioned Josh Harrellson for christ sake]

of course, that's obnoxious bullshit so i get your response
