Define good... Is it in comparison to others? to your peers or internationally? What makes you "good" at something.

Was Mr. Burns "Good"

Flexibility
Carrying heavy things
Being cheerful
Taking timed multiple choice tests on subjects that are vaguely familiar
Evaluating, organizing/synthesizing things and information
Word jumbles

I'm slowly getting better at listening and perspective-taking. But, in the meantime, I've made dramatic improvements in the realms of minding my bidness and keeping my mouth shut. So, instead of feeling stupid for saying something, now I mainly feel stupid for thinking something.

i think you can consider yourself good at something when others come to you for help and advice when they want to do it.

i feel like i'm pretty good at grilling and smoking. not like competition level, but definitely better than the average american. of course, every dude who has ever burned a chicken leg thinks he's a grill master, so whatever.

i'm a pretty average shot, but folks usually come to me with their reloading questions. i've spent a good bit of time researching and practicing and i would consider myself good at it.

i can hold my own at fishing as well. i didn't really feel like fishing after my dad died, so i haven't been in about a year. starting to get the dust off my gear and get back into it now.

but i've spent so much time doing these things that i'd be pretty embarrassed if i wasn't relatively good at them.

I am good at baking cupcakes and making icing.
And tending babies.
And taking pictures. (But not editing them)
And growing herbs.

I might be great at taking care of kids aged 2-5...but not awesome.

I haven't held any in close to two decades, but i was pretty good back then, and bet I could pick them up and pick-up where i left off. I was also really good with a pogo-poll and could do shove-its and nose-picks on edges. And I can do the whole criss-cross thing with a jump rope. I was never very good at doing the kid-n-play thing of jumping through my own leg though. BUt I could do the Hammer (Running Man)

Juggling. I can do tons of 3-ball tricks, stable 4 ball patterns, and am working on 5 balls/clubs/rings. And contact juggling as well, but not as good at that yet. Joggling too. Did a 5k with 3 balls, only 2 drops, 30:15.

And props to devil sticks. Love playing around with those and diabolos.

I honestly didn't either, I can't recall the last time i saw any. But this has prompted me to look for a cheap set online. Upon a very cursory look, they all have the big fluff-balls on the end, which I didn't like.

I am really good at being a little better than decent at a lot of things. I will get really into something and go at it full speed and learn all I can right before I get to the point where I would be an expert I lose interest and go on to the next thing. Working on cars, guns, reloading, grilling, cooking, lifting weights, nutrition, work related things, handyman stuff around the house, computers, etc. All things I know more about than your average joe but not enough to be an expert by any means.

I think I'm good at a lot of things...so I'm just going to list all of the things I feel I'm really good-to-great at:

High Volume Bartending
Yard Work
Basic Breakfast for small groups (I can make a ton of diner quality pancakes, bacon/sausage, and any style of eggs for 5-10 people...consistently)
Diffusing confrontational situations
Relationship advice
Writing heartfelt letters

I think that might be it.

I have a hard time putting things into perspective sometimes (in comparison to the average joe vs professionals vs icons etc.)

For example: guitar. When I compare myself to any of my favorite guitar players I actually suck, but I also recorded two label-backed albums so in the grand scheme of things I guess I can say I am decent.

Interior design and residential architecture design. Not sure that I could ever make a full-time career out of it or anything but I really enjoy it and have a lot of friends and co-workers who have asked me for advice.

There are other things I would have counted years ago but I either don't do them anymore or am not/wouldn't be good at them anymore. :/

I can shoot fast. I'll shoot 100% in police qualifications and I usually get all my shots off when everyone else is only halfway through. It's about the only thing I'm fast at.

I'm good at knife making as long as speed isn't factored into that.

Maybe better than the average population:

Fixing bikes
Riding bikes
Swimming
Raising animals
Sewing things in a utilitarian fashion
Being the calm center of reason
Good 'nurse face' when shit is going downhill on my patients
Planning things

Things I suck at:
running
budgeting for vacation
drumming
mowing the lawn
finishing projects with no hard deadline
