Ahoy There!
Who all is an alumnus? I surely miss those times; always wished I would have gone back to be a counselor for several more summers. My parents live close by, so I still get to visit the area; but I haven't been to camp in a long time - the people are what made it and 90% of those people are gone now
I think these were my cabins... I'll have to find my records to confirm. Though I may be confusing some weekend camps I worked there with the summer session cabins.
1995 - Cabin 7 1996 - Cabin 15 1997 - Cabin 25 1998 - Cabin 39 1999 - Cabin 53 2000 - Cabin 59 2001 - Cabin 15 (CIT - SGMB) 2002 - Cabin 15 (CIT - SGMB) 2003 - Cabin 15 (JC - SGMB)
Worked several weekend camps and a few week-long camps (lifeguard, sailing, athletics, roamer) those were fun, but they're a blur in my head (you're there such a short time and pretty much show up when the campers do... it was very confusing to me because I was used to the summer sessions which are pretty different).
Certainly miss all of my old friends/counselors. It's cool to hear Hayes on 99.9; I saw his partner in crime (Doug) not too long ago. Apparently John Hyde is now the director? Coach is back at camp as well. Wish I knew what happened to the old 90s crew, well mostly the motorboating crew - there were several all-stars on that 90s staff. ] 5/29/2014 2:04:18 PM |

I have been to Camp Don Lee twice. Neither time legally. I used to drive by Camp Caroline everyday; my parent's lived about 2 miles away. 5/30/2014 8:54:49 AM |

One of my childhood friends went to Camp Seagull every year, I think, but that was way back in the 80's and early 90's. I lost touch with him when I moved to Raleigh in 1994. Then, in 2005 or so, I found out he had recently hanged himself. Rest in peace, crazy old Josh 6/2/2014 12:09:48 AM |

I went to Camp Seagull for one weekend on some sort of school-related trip. I remember hating it.

I have about 8 years at Sea Gull / Seafarer. I loved that place. I was a JC / Service Corp in 1997 (last year for SC) on the Motorboat Staff. 6/5/2014 9:26:10 AM |

I went to Camp Sea Gull one year. I really liked one of the counselors so I made her a bracelet. It was cool.
I had to go to some kind of camp every day of every summer for almost a decade. So my favorite camping memory was when I showed up to horseback riding at Camp Kanata in shorts and flip flops. The instructor fussed me out, and the nurse saw it and felt bad for me. So I got to spend the whole week chilling with the nurse in the AC watching soap operas.
Also, bee stings. Bee stings were automatic AC/nurse time at any camp so they were pretty sweet.
And the year they let me do arts and crafts all day. I tie-dyed my little ass off.
Big fan of snack time. Also, any quiet time.
I also appreciated when the counselors decided that I had a "real condition" and gave up on getting me out of bed in the morning.
Summers were hard work. 12/13/2014 3:55:16 PM |

i went to camp sea gull (i think) with my indian guides group back in the mid-late 90s. don't remember what year. and honestly don't remember much about it at all.
really, my main memory is just that they played that "YMCA" song a lot in the cafeteria/dining hall.
