Nice idea for a thread. I'll definitely be keeping an eye on this thread and hopefully adding some of my own when I get a chance

yah there's already a Bluegrass thread too...message_topic.aspx?topic=329196

it's not really a matter of the site being dead...the reason we use the existing threads is because there is already content/discussions there.

and as far as this thread goes, you might as well just made the title: country\rock\emo\heavy metal\electronic\hip hop\jazz\pop\folk\aboregenie music thread

not really because the four genres i chose are very closely related. if the thread dies, it dies.

but i guess any opportunity to shit on something is guaranteed to be taken on TWW

oh i guess i should add to this thread.

turnpike troubadours are my favorite band in the world currently.

i've seen chris knight twice in the last couple months.

dude that opened/backed hayes carll in raleigh in may had some pretty good songs. i think his name was travis linville.

Hearts & Daggers (Local)
Roger Allan Wade
Uncle Tupelo
Lucero
Ween (12 Golden Country Greats)

Also, did anybody see this? Dolly Parton's "Jolene" slowed down to 33 RPMs. Pretty neat:

I think that people should be banned for using the word bluegrass.

Anyways, got to check these guys out:

they're a bit quirky, but talented...Packway Handle Band. Randomly hired them to play at my wedding (not a bluegrass fan really, just listened to a couple of their songs prior to booking) and I've seen them live a few times since b/c it's always fun. And because one of my friends married a band member. http://www.packwayhandle.com/
