So that guy is a gullible conspiracy theorist? Seems plausible. Possibly also a white supremacist? Also tracks.

The M4 is more concerning considering all of those possibilities

uniformed members of the military getting MAGA hats signed by Trump at his visit is way worse than a west point cadet with "communism will win" taped under his cover

I'd like to know where all the MAGA stuff came from. [anecdote]From my service time, I can only think of 2-3 people who regularly talked politics and I don't remember anyone bringing campaign swag on a deployment.[/anecdote] On the other hand, I do remember being told not to attend political events in uniform and, on the few occasions we were visited by politicians, being reminded they were there in an official capacity and not as politicians.

I'm constantly amazed when people are surprised to learn that the military leans right-wing.

The military (and their domestic sibling, the police force) exists to protect the interests of the state. And the state exists to protect the interests of the ruling class. So of course the military is going to attract those who are sympathetic to preserving the interests of capital, private property, and white supremacy "american" interests. And if they get deployed overseas to put down a few popular uprisings and/or murk a few haji's along the way, they're probably not going to concern themselves too much about it.

And?

The military is the armed wing of the state. It exists to carry out the mission of corporate imperialism on behalf of the ruling class/business elite, etc. This is its primary function. Having a supply of hyper militant nationalists who view foreign citizens as sub-human who need to be civilized and/or tamed facilitates that objective. But having a few liberals or democrats within its ranks does nothing to detract from its core mission, because the institution itself exists to eradicate foreign opposition. A soldier with a heart of gold is still a soldier, and he or she still serves at the behest of an institution that does not share his/her values.

Most of the stats I've seen put the military as slightly more right-leaning than America at large, but it's not much--substantially less than it used to be, and substantially less than people generally think it is. Anecdotally, it's a vastly more libertarian (albeit more hawkish than the average capital-L type) sort of right-leaning (not the jackbooted fascist archetype you're saying "of course" are right-wingers), and the left-leaning types are pretty much always pragmatic center-left types, not wacky left-wing ideologues.

Also, aside from partisanship and ideology, the officers have pretty much always fucking hated Trump, specifically--from his initial rise in the campaign, to now. By that, I mean statistically (obviously I know individual officers who love him), and I mean across the officer ranks, from Lieutenants to Generals.

Anecdotally, many of the most vehement and thoughtful critics of Trump that I know are (or were) military officers, particularly outside of friends/associates who lean left, politically.

True libertarians have more in common with “wacky far left ideologues” than center left pragmatists.

American Libertarianism is a gateway drug to full-throated conservatism, because their fetish for preserving private property always outweighs their desire for limited government. Because if somebody ACTUALLY believed in limited government, they wouldn't join the world's largest and most funded apparatus of government control, the military, to begin with.

So then we agree that moderate democrats and soft liberals don't have much sway on the function of the military. And one could argue that if the only liberals are "pragmatic moderates," then it stands to reason that the military does not have any real ideological opposition within their ranks to their core mission of dominating foreign populations to protect the interests of a super wealthy few.

^^, ^

Hang on, so is libertarianism more closely related to the hard left, or is is a gateway drug to full-throated conservatism?

or maaaaaaaaybe you're both simulataneously full of shit.

Libertarianism is traditionally a left-wing ideology.

The warped American form of libertarianism is distinctly right-wing.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarianism

Quote :
"Traditionally, libertarianism was a term for a form of left-wing politics; such left-libertarian ideologies seek to abolish capitalism and private ownership of the means of production, or else to restrict their purview or effects, in favor of common or cooperative ownership and management, viewing private property as a barrier to freedom and liberty.[6][7][8][9] Classical libertarian ideologies include, but are not limited to, anarcho-communism (and anarcho-syndicalism), mutualism, egoism, alongside many other anti-paternalist, New Left schools of thought centered around economic egalitarianism. In the United States, modern right-libertarian ideologies, such as minarchism and anarcho-capitalism, co-opted the term in the mid-20th century to instead advocate laissez-faire capitalism and strong private property rights, such as in land, infrastructure, and natural resources.["

Traditional Libertarianism as it originated, was associated with anarchism, which is left wing.

American Libertarianism originated from the CATO Institute, and is decidedly a right-wing project that attracts predominantly white males who get a hard-on for private property.

So is wearing a maga hat and shouting build the wall a new racist chat?

Kind of amazing how easily people adopt the racist tone of trump’s comments, but the media debates of its racist or not.

I don't get what their beef was with this Native American or their march. Like politicians sending dick pics. Why risk getting in trouble over something so stupid.

Look at the way they're dressed, they're moronic high schoolers that have replaced following sports or a band with being a "fan" of a politician. They're stupid, racist kids that are probably surrounded by stupid, racist adults.

They did that while attending the March for Life.... disgusting irony

I would have thought racism would die/have died with the passing of these kids' parents' generation, but obviously, it is going to continue for at least one more generation, and they will teach the same to their kids one day.

Sigh... America is going to the dogs.
