Let's get this thread started for this year.

Fantasy News of the day yesterday was Jamal Charles' holdout ending before it even started as he agreed to a 2-year contract extension making him the second highest paid RB in the NFL.

Now I have a keeper league question. In a different type of fantasy league, there is a "premier" league and a minor league. There are 2 separate 12 team leagues, and after each season the top-6 of each league are placed in the "premier" league for the next year, while the remaining teams move down to the minor league. Last year was the first year of it, so it is still a work in progress. Since there are two separate leagues, there is a chance that teams will try to keep the same players, in which case the team with the most points scored last year gets first choice. We can keep 3 players, cut and dry, with no penalty (no giving up draft picks, etc.).

We start 1 QB (1 point for every 20 passing yards), 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, and 1 RB/WR/TE flex. The league has a couple different bonus point categories listed below:

QBs (4 points for passing TD, -2 for int):
2 extra points when total Passing Completions is greater than or equal to 25
1 extra point when total Passing Yards is greater than or equal to 300
4 extra points for every Passing TD of 60 or more yards
2 extra points for every Passing TD between 30 and 59 yards

RBs (1 point every 10 yds, 6 points rushing td):
2 extra points when total Rushing Attempts is greater than or equal to 30
1 extra point when total Rushing Yards is greater than or equal to 150
4 extra points for every Rushing TD of 80 or more yards
2 extra points for every Rushing TD between 40 and 79 yards

WRs (1 point every 10 yds, 6 points rec td):
2 extra points when total Catches is greater than or equal to 9
1 extra point when total Receiving Yards is greater than or equal to 150
4 extra points for every Receiving TD of 80 or more yards
2 extra points for every Receiving TD between 40 and 79 yards

With all that being said, in my opinion I have 5 potential keepers. I will need to rank them 1-5 in case of overlapping keepers with a team that scored more points than me last year. My potential keepers are:

QB Drew Brees
WR AJ Green
RB Doug Martin
RB Arian Foster
TE Rob Gronkowski

I think I am definitely going to keep AJ Green, but how would you rank the 5 keepers?

Another keeper league question, this league is a money league.

Keeper rules: 3 keepers, 1 round draft penalty, can keep anyone drafted in 4th round or later.

I know 2 of my keepers are going to be Montee Ball and Demaryius Thomas. Which order do you keep them?

Demaryius Thomas as a 4th round pick this year (3rd round pick the next year)
Montee Ball as a 3rd round pick (not keepable next year)

or

Montee Ball as 4th round pick (3rd round next year)
Demaryius Thomas as 3rd round pick (not keepable next year)

^ Thanks. With that being said I was offered Gio Bernard for Demaryius Thomas. You don't do that deal right? Its a non-ppr, flex league. Gio would be under by control for this year as a 5th round pick, next as a 4th, and one more year as a 3rd round pick?

^^ No, two years of Thomas is way better than three years of Gio. Although Gio should get the bulk of the work this year you have no idea of his production the next 2-3 years, but you have a pretty good idea that Thomas is going to be a beast and will have Peyton throwing him the rock. Also, I'm sure in the next couple of years you can draft someone in the 5th round or later that has the same potential as Gio

help me decide my two keepers. Rules: 2 round draft penalty, can keep anyone drafted in the 4th round or later. If you keep someone who was picked up as a free agent during the season they count as the 15th or 16th round pick in this years draft.

Here are my potential keepers, with the round they were selected last year in parentheses:

Lesean McCoy (4)
Leveon Bell (10)
Josh Gordon (9)
Colin Kaepernick (13)
Percy Harvin (16)
Keenan Allen (FA)
Julius Thomas (FA)

McCoy and Kaep were my keepers last year (McCoy has actually been my keeper for the past few years). I'm almost certainly going to keep McCoy again this year, so the rest of the players are basically fighting for one spot

^I'd probably go Thomas.

Damn, got 3rd pick in my 16-team PPR. Charles/McCoy are probably 1-2, so here's to figuring out who to go with from there.

^^^ I like Thomas as well.

As I stated earlier at the start of the thread, I am in a no-money keeper league with technically 24 teams (two 12 team leagues). Each year the top 6 from each league are formed into the "premier" league, while the remaining 12 teams are relegated to the second league. You get 3 keepers with no draft pick penalties, so we keep all our draft picks. With two leagues there is obviously some keeper selection overlap. Keeper priority was decided by points scored last year, so I ended up middle of the pack with my choices.

The league is non-ppr, with a RB/WR/TE flex. There are bonuses for # of completions, and long touchdowns (rushing, passing, and receiving). My 6 options were:

QB Drew Brees
RB Marshawn Lynch
RB Arian Foster (I know a team with lower keeper priority has him selected as a keeper)
RB Doug Martin
WR AJ Green (He is being kept by a team with higher keeper priority so no longer an option)
TE Rob Gronkowski (Jimmy Graham is being kept by another team)

I have the #6 pick in the draft.

I was leaning towards keeping Brees, Lynch, and Foster, but now I am considering keeping Brees, Gronk, and either Foster or Lynch. But I know if I keep Lynch over Foster, Foster will be kept by the team below me.

With that being said which three do you keep?
Keep all 3 RBs(and take best WR/QB/TE left at #6)?
Keep Brees/Gronk/Lynch (let other team have Foster and try to get a better RB2)?
Brees/Gronk/Foster (try to get better RB2 with #6 pick)?
Lynch/Foster/Gronk (Take best RB/QB/WR with #6)?

I have also talked with the owner of AJ Green about a Lynch(if holdout ends early) for Green "swap", which would leave me with Brees, AJ Green, Foster or Gronk as my 3 keepers?

thoughts?

Keeper League. 8 team league. QB dominated points system. Need to pick 2 keepers out of:

Tom Brady
Nick Foles
Demaryius Thomas

Other QBs off the board already include: Manning, Rodgers, Brees, Stafford, Cutler, Ryan, Newton

I have the 5th pick. What do you think?

oh, no nothing like that. It's pretty basic... two keepers from our active roster at the end of last season (aka no "off season" adds). The first two rounds automatically draft the keepers and then the rest of the draft rounds 3 and on are normal.

^I think I would lean Brady over Foles, and then keep Demaryius. Brady has done in more consistently (other than last year) and the NFL will have 1 years worth of the Eagles offense, plus the loss of Desean.

non-ppr league, we start 1 QB, 2 WR, 2RB, 1 TE, 1 WR/TE/RB flex spot. We get 3 keepers with no penalties (i.e. no loss of draft picks, etc.)

I had 5 keeper options thanks to scouring the waiver wire at the end of last year.

My 3 keepers currently are:

QB Drew Brees
RB Marshawn Lynch
RB Arian Foster

Other options were:
TE Rob Gronkowski
RB Doug Martin

I will pick 6th in the draft (12 teams)

So far I know the following RBS are being kept:
Ryan Matthews, Reggie Bush, CJ Spiller, Adrian Peterson, Jamal Charles, LeSean McCoy, Frank Gore, Matt Forte, and Eddy Lacy.

The WRS being kept are:
Calvin Johnson, AJ Green (has Calvin as well), Coradelle Patterson, Jordy Nelson, Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas, Antonio Brown and Eric Decker.

The guy who has Calvin Johnson and AJ Green (Cam Newton is his 3rd QB) offered me this trade:

I get:
AJ Green

I give:
Marshawn Lynch

thoughts on this trade? If you say do the trade, do you keep Foster as your 3rd keeper?

so my work 12 man league decided to take a modified wonderlic to determine draft order. but with a twist, you gdt to choose where you go in the 12 parson snake. I finished 2nd, so I can choose any spot but 3rd overall, which the highest scorer took.

anyone have thoughts on this? we're QB/2RB/2WR/TE/Flex/DEF with PPR

do i take the 2nd pick and get either peterson or mccoy? do i go 4th and look at either charles or peyton?

I'd personally take 1 overall. I know it's a long time to wait, but you're guaranteed to get who you want, and I love the back-to-back picks at the other end of the snake.

My question: One of the guys in my ESPN league can't change his team name. Can anyone think of a reason why or know of a solution? I don't think there's a league manager option I have to click somewhere is there? This is an established league, and I just re-activated it for this season.

10 team, 0.5 PPR league. I have the 10th pick. Last year with the 10th pick (same league) I was able to grab Calvin Johnson. I don't see that happening again this year. But I think WR may be my best option at that pick. I know early in the draft it's useless going for certain positions...just go for best available. But I'm basing this on who I expect to be available at picks 10 and 11. So, with that said. Who do y'all like better of these WRs...Dez Bryant, AJ Green, Bay Bay Thomas?

^ Personally I would rank them 1) D. Thomas 2) Dez 3) AJ Green.

Keeper deadline is today, for a standard league, start 2 each of RB, WR, with 1 flex spot. We received #1 Overall pick in lottery. Need to pick 1 keeper between:
Demarco Murray in the 2nd round #20 Overall or
Montee Ball in the 3rd round #21 Overall

We are already keeping Demaryius Thomas in the 4th and Michael Crabtree in the 10th. Will likely go McCoy or Charles #1 Overall. I am leaning towards keeping Demarco Murray, just because I am really not sure what Ball will provide this year. Then again Murray is an injury risk, but I like the Cowboys OL.

thoughtsz?

I'm not crazy about either of those RBs really. Murray has higher upside, IMO. But I don't know that I trust him to stay healthy all year. Maybe I'd lean Murray...but I'm kinda torn

^Thanks.

I went with Murray, which I am sure I will regret. Wasn't 100% ecstatic with either option, but this was an existing league that we took over a team in last year, and most of the better young RBs have been kept in later rounds, so felt like I needed to keep a decent RB#2 option.

So I am looking at my first 4 picks being:

Round 1 pick #1 - Either Charles or McCoy
Round 2 pick #20 - Demarco Murray
Round 3 pick #21 - Best RB/WR/TE/Brees or Rodgers if they fall
Round 4 pick #40 - Demaryius Thomas

Not a horrible start, and then Crabtree in the 10th isn't horrible value.

What are people's thoughts on Alfred Morris. He doesn't seem to be getting a lot of love in the rankings I'm seeing. He's certainly not at the same level as the top 5 or so RBs. But do people really love guys like Montee Ball, Doug Martin, Gio Bernard, and DeMarco Murray that much more than Morris?

12 team, 0.5 PPR...I drafted from the 12 spot yesterday:

QB - RGIII
RB - Gore
RB - Rice (after he serves suspension)
WR - Dez
WR - AJ Green
Flex - Michael Floyd
TE - Julius Thomas
K - Dawson
DST - Steelers
BN - Ridley
BN - McFadden
BN - Khiry Robinson
BN - Andre Williams
BN - L. Blount
BN - Tavon Austin
BN - Jordan Matthews

I kind of put myself behind the 8-ball taking Dez & AJ back to back off the get go. Had to go with as much upside as I could rest of way. QB's got snatched up much quicker than I'd planned...I'm not overly thrilled with RGIII but there is potential there.

Thoughts?

^I'm in a similar position. Drafting 10th in a 10 team league (also 0.5 PPR) and have been leaning toward going WR/WR - depending on who's available - with my first two picks. It's slightly less damaging since I'm in a 10 team league, and not 12 like you. But you're right. It puts me in a bad spot for RB in 3rd/4th rounds. Your RBs really might not end up being so bad...then again, things could definitely go south for you quick at RB.

^^ I just received the 12th pick in our draft lottery last night. It is 6 points for pass TD, and 1 point ppr, so I am 95% sure I will have some combination of Dez, AJ Green, Brandon Marshall staring at me. I don't know whether to go for a Dez, Brandon Marshall combo, or hope that Demarco Murray or Gio is there as well, and pair one of them with a top WR.

Cecil Shorts - 10th round pick

The one thing I'm kicking myself over is not picking up either Pierce and/or Hyde to handcuff Rice & Gore. I really wanted Hyde and thought I could wait and get him in the 11th/12th but he got snatched up before I could grab him.

If Ridley & DMC could ever get their shit together, I could really hit the lottery with them.

Yeah Sproles will have an effect. But McCoy should still thrive and get tons of opportunities in that offense. I don't think Charles or AP are bad picks at all for #1...they could certainly be justified. I'd be inclined to go McCoy though.

This is my 3rd straight year of doing a public $20 yahoo "pro" league. They are 10 team leagues, standard scoring, start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, defense and kicker. I finished 2nd my first year, and last year I failed to make the playoffs after losing some players to injury.

I picked #6, and I ended up going WR/WR to start so my RB aren't great.

^year there are some decent options on the wire. I kind of put myself in the situation with taking Fitzgerald and him having the same bye week as AJ Green. I knew I wanted to try to take Gordon later in the draft in case his suspension is in the 4-8 game range, so I felt I had to take Kendall Wright in a worst case scenario situation to cover my byes (since they were relatively early). With the backup TE, for some reason I thought Pitta might have had a injury or something going on, so I wanted to cover myself, figured Kelce could be a shot in the dark. Could hit gold, or drop if he is a bomb.
