I saw this post on Reddit made by a UNC fan:

and not a single NC State fan is represented in the data for the map they made, but I'm sure it's largely due to the lack of posters on Reddit that follow NCSU because we've sucked recently, among other factors.

After a quick Google search, I couldn't find any information or polls on the percentage of UNC/Duke/State/Wake/ECU/Other fans in NC. Anyone have a good link for that?

If we're talking strictly college football I might estimate 30% UNC, 25% State, 15% ECU, 1% Duke, 1% Wake, 1% App, 27% other.

I dunno...maybe that's way off. I'm just guessing over here.

^^For basketball...Probably less ECU fans, more UNC and Duke fans. State fans probably right about the same.

I don't know about baseball...college baseball definitely isn't as popular as college basketball or football. But State, UNC, and ECU would, I assume, be the 3 most popular in the state.

People that live near a college are fans of that college? Nationally branded schools have large fan bases? Wow, that guy really did some groundbreaking statistical work.

1. Carolina
2. State
3. ECU
4. a tossup between Appalachian, Duke, and Wake, although I don't know how large the fanbases are of schools like A&T and Central

Basketball:

1. Carolina
2. Duke
3. State
4. Wake
5. Charlotte
6. ECU, Wilmington, Davidson, Greensboro, etc.

You'd think since we are the largest student population, we'd graduate more people and, thus, have more fans. It's the UNC bandwagoners and Michael Jordan fans that probably bring up their numbers. I'm surprised the N&O or somebody hasn't done a survey on this (that I can find).
