This crew knows how to somehow pull off the amazing feat of making incessant headshots look boring as fuck. Also throw in excrushistingly bad actor Common and bingo you have an even worse movie. It's such a shame, this movie/franchise should have been awesome, but instead we got some repetitive bullshit that might as well have been pg13

You're basing that take off the trailer? And this one (based on the trailer) is "even worse," but you graded the first one a B-?

As far as John Wick 1 went, I'll take "repetitive bullshit" all damn day long tbh.

Common played a very good villain in Run All Night. Don't count the guy out yet.

I, too, have no problem with Common as an actor. Did a fine job in Hell on Wheels.

I didn't realize he was a rapper trying out acting while watching Hell on Wheels u. ntil like season 3. I guess I live under a rock. I thought he did a good job in the show, but I haven't seen him in anything else that I'm aware of.

Chapter 2 is getting fantastic reviews from all of the credibles.

So, I can be an Entertainment Mod now, right?

Seriously, nobody does their fucking job around here, and I love this shit.

What exactly would having mod powers do to help you accomplish that goal that you can't do as a regular poster?

Keep my name out of your mouth. Don't ever mistake yourself peer to me. You are a bitty baby who takes the book from Daddy's hands and babbles as you crease its pages, and in your tiny mind, you think yourself reading as well as he.

The first one was basically the perfect action movie. This one wasn't quite as good, but it was also an excellent bridge to what the next one will be.

This was awesome. Every bit as good as the first one. Lots of world building to expand the universe, and a cool set up for another installment.

While I enjoyed the movie, we did not in any way need a John Wick "universe." I'll definitely watch the sequel, but it has become something very different from the first movie. We're in Highlander sequel territory now. Shit, that's not even a good analogy. It's more like Halloween or Friday the 13th at this point. You had a perfectly good first movie that told a self-contained story with a world that at least somewhat resembled our own except for one fantastic or seemingly fantastic element, and now we're saddled with more. It strains credulity.

The fantastical element in John Wick was the notion that there's this trade association of hitmen who trade gold coins for illicit services and have this hotel as neutral ground. In the sequel, we get a goddamn international crime conspiracy in the form of the Camorra and its High Table, this blood oath stuff comes out of nowhere, and every other extra in the third act is a secret hitman.

It's like how in the first Friday the 13th, there wasn't really any Jason like we know him from the sequels, just his mom killing people and one brief glimpse of him at the end that may have just been a hallucination. Then he winds up becoming an immortal killing machine in the sequels, going to space and Hell and shit.

Like I said, I enjoyed both movies, but after seeing the sequel, I remarked that it's basically another superhero series now.

I haven't seen the second one yet, but I was fine with the city the first one took place in.

The problem with sequels - always have to outdo the original.

I guess Frosh considers things (from the first movie) like the cops noticing dead bodies in Wick's house and just being like "working again, John?" or the criminal mastermind's son not having any idea who the baddest ass killer in the world is when he decides to start shit at a gas station, then beat him up in his house and not even finish the job. Fun movie, though.

I think you meant to type that I don't consider those things fantastical. If so, you're right, I don't. The cop looking the other way was an action movie cliché. Theon not recognizing Wick is whatever, it's not like the motherfucker has a baseball card.

Finally got around to watching the second one, a few thoughts-

first and foremost, for the first 1/3-1/2 of the movie before its slicked back, Keanu's haircut was just distractingly awful, like took me out of the movie because I can't stop looking at how awful it is bad.

Common's acting wasn't Terminator Salvation bad, but wasn't really good either. He did appear quite clunky in the action choreography though. If you're going to get shitty acting anyways, I would much rather they'd gone with a former stunt man with a little acting chops that can pull off the fights.

Overall, the action was much better, not the lackluster repetitive shit we got in the first one, but the acting and story overall took a big hit. But all things considered, id probably give this the same grade I gave number one, a B-

Yup, I standby that. I said it when the first one came out, if you're going to make a hard R action movie make a fucking HARD R action movie. Compared to the ones that did it right like Dredd and The Raid, the action was bland, and extremely repetitive, with no memorable kills. Second one was definitely an improvement in that category.

different strokes for different folks. I thought that the choreography in the raid was just extreme dancing.

Hard to criticize John Wick for the action considering how it was all filmed in camera and done so well. I thought that the first attack at the house, the assault on the club and the hotel hit were all unique and stood out on their own.

It was all filmed in camera...and then they went and added cg muzzle flare to all the airsoft guns they were using. Give me some fucking blanks and squibs. I don't hate the movie, my biggest disappointment in it is that it didn't live up to the potential that it could have been. It's pretty much my favorite genre, so I was just disappointed they didn't go far enough.

I am no expert on Hollywood restrictions, but most of those shots were direct head shots. Would not use muzzle flair blanks for that.
