It was advertised as much more espionage-based than it actually was. And as much as I appreciate an LGBT equality message, I didn't like that it was a subtle plot point for 115 minutes and then suddenly HUGE for the last 5. Felt too abrupt after not being a major part of the story.

But the cast was great, cinematography great, script was great... should do well come award season

Very solid movie, I liked it. Not sure its for everyone though.

^^I took that as characterizing how in the closet he was. The fact that 99% of people had no idea and despite his contributions this is what undid him. I really enjoyed this, and I don't ordinarily go in for the historical/biographical/based-on-a-true-story set.

My brother said people are taking issue with the depiction of him rubbing everyone the wrong way and being incredibly hard to work with. Anyone know more about this?

One question, why did the MI-6 guy lie to Alan about Joan being in military prison? If he already knew that the other guy was a Soviet spy, what was the purpose of getting Alan to reveal it? Was it to ensure that Alan wasn't working with the Soviets too or something?

Well acted, well written, and well directed.

Really enjoyed this one, definitely deserves the nominations. Cumberbatch was fantastic, as well as the supporting actors.
