Not sure if any bond movie can live up to the epic saga of Moonraker.

Honestly, I loved Moonraker. I know Roger Moore gets a lot of hate since his films are more campy and Moonraker was definitely one of the campier ones but come on, it has Jaws (who finds love!), a space battle with laser guns, and a boat chase.

Sidenote, good casting with Christopher Waltz as Blofeld and I'm pumped to see SPECTRE in the new era of Bond.

I'd personally love to see them make a movie actually based off of the Moonraker novel. IMO that's Fleming's best one.

Pretty excited for this one though - cast is pretty incredible.

So is Quantum supposed to be a part of/related to SPECTRE or will they be distinct organizations.

^ &^^ I got this from the James Bonding podcast but Quantum is much better on a second viewing and especially if you watch it in very close proximity to Casino Royale since it's a continuation of that movie. Plot wise it's not great but it's shot extremely well

I actually like Quantum of Solace. It's not great, but the writer's strike really hurt it - pretty sure Daniel Craig ended up helping write part of the script so they could stay on schedule.

I saw an article from some foreign website that got RT'd onto my Twitter feed that said Mr. White (one of the Quantum guys from Casino & Quantum) is slated to be in SPECTRE. So there's a chance the 2 organizations are the same, or at least related if that news is true.

I also enjoyed Quantum. It's much less ambitious than Casino Royale and feels a bit narrow in scope but I thought it was pretty good. Hated the second half of Skyfall, though, so maybe I'm just weird.

I can understand to an extent. I think the whole "actually meant to get captured" thing is a bit played out and is a bit ridiculous if you stop to think about how many things have to break exactly a certain way for that "plan" to work.

Also the home alone ending where the head of British intelligence goes to a remote Scottish house instead of holing up in a military base makes no sense.

I've watched Quantum at least 5-6 times and enjoy it every time.

I've always assumed that this shadow organization is SPECTRE; there's really no doubt in my mind over that.

I liked the first two Craig films - Skyfall just bored me to tears, though

Quantum is just a revenge flick with Bond as the main character. It felt closer to a Bourne movie than any Bond movie in existence. Skyfall was a close return to the original formula. I expect nothing but the best from Spectre.

Done to death since The Dark Knight. Skyfall, Star Trek Into Darkness, and at least one Call of Duty all come to mind.

Dark knight was one of those game changer movies. Like The Matrix.

So they just gonna abandoned the Quantum thing? They can still still use it.

I watch them all back to back to back. Casino and Solace are like night and day compared to Skyfall. I hated in skyfall how they made Daniel Craig this old as hell frogger (which I know he really is). It feels like there should have been another movie between Solace and Skyfall. It feels weird.

And screw the original formula. I thought that was the point when they rebooted the franchise with Craig. A darker gritter and somewhat hyper realistic version of a secret agent. (THANKS DARK KNIGHT). Might as well as bring back jaws.

i'm not going to search for the interview, but look up one of the more recent Daniel Craig interviews regarding SPECTRE. He basically states that with the over campiness of the last Brosnan films and movies like Austin Powers they felt like that had to become serious and dark/gritty for CR and QoS to be taken seriously. But quickly learned that's not what made the original bond films so great. So after Solace they decided to slowly begin reincorporating some of the humor and things of that nature into Skyfall. He states something along the lines of Spectre being a true return to Bond form. We'll see.

I personally thought Casino Royale had the right amount of humor for a Bond film. The Connery films (at least the first 4) didn't have the type of slap stick stuff that Moore's films (and Brosnan's to a degree) had and were better films for it. Quantum was too rushed a film to have much humor at all and Skyfall had a bit more than CR or QoS, but I still don't think we'll ever see a 'funny' Bond film with Craig. Doesn't fit the type of films they aim to be making.

yeah I don't know that Craig has a lot of range. Not to say he's a bad actor, just more that he's not going to ever be doing much beyond what we've already seen from him.

The only thing I can recall where he isn't doing the same sort of thing is Road to Perdition.

my first thought after seeing that trailer:

"So, what kind of physical defect are they gonna give Waltz's character?"

I wonder if they're actually gonna make Waltz' character Blofeld after seeing that trailer. Seems too straightforward.

Released during the NBA finals timeout.

A lot of chasing scenes. Cars, planes, snow boards, ships.

That's common in an action movie. For example, Fast & Furious

I like they're going back to Quantum, Skyfall really did not work for me as I was expecting the movie to be about him going after all the people the QoS villain told him about, and what we got was just blah. Nice story of M's role, giving someone up, and her death, plus Bond's age catching up to him and sense of vulnerability, but the villain was the worst since the Rupert Murdoch guy in one of the Brosnan films.

The shaky cam/short cuts during action scenes is not legendary. That is actually a gimmick to cover up bad action and make it look more exciting.

And we sit here and take it because we're a nation of ADHD.

Want real action scenes? Look to the new Daredevil series.

He's a legend not because of shaky cam definitely.
He created the so-called bloody violent art.

I really thought that Waltz's character would have some sor of scar or deformity. Don't all Bond villains have something like that going on?
