Has anyone else tried it?
would be cool to see some people post up their results

I have been playing with the software lately, it calculates power based on info about your car and data logged during a WOT pull. It is surprisingly accurate.
https://innovativetuning.wordpress.com/our-experiments-with-virtual-dyno/

In my 240 I am using the built in logging function of the nismotronic ecu which I set up to automatically record a log when the tps is between 75-100%. These logs are exported as a csv (spreadsheet) file and can be read by virtual dyno.
I just picked up a bluetooth obdlink data scanner and will do a run with my mazda 6, if your car is 1996 or newer you should be able to record a log like this.

(red line is the first pull using the same fuel tables and settings from the phantasm tune file, blue line is after i adjusted the fuel tables in the high load areas)

I've played around with it. You have to make sure the conditions you set in it are right, and you use clean datalogs. It can be manipulated of course, but as people point out, it works on the same principle as an inertia dyno. That's close enough for what most people want to do.

I don't put a whole lot of stock in the numbers per se, same with inertia dynos in general (typical dynojet), but for before&after comparison and general adjusting of torque & power curve it's useful.

so I have been tweaking fuel map slightly and making more power... and now I have a new problem. I'm spinning tires in 3rd as soon as it hits boost
throws off the calculations a bit

I need fatter tires
