So where do you all stand on rechargeable batteries these days? I'm getting tired of buying a new pack of batteries every month or so because I'm out... again. Any advancements in this area in the last several years?

I read some good things on the amazon black label (hi-cap) and white label batteries
Seems as though the Sanyo (Panasonic) Eneloop are the standard

Mostly powering remotes, battery backup, wireless keyboard & mouse, etc.

i thought everyone had a cache of rechargeable batteries now - i have a mix of tenergy and eneloop - for the most part i only have AA and AAAs now too - i have spacers for C and Ds

I use eneloop AAs and use my nitecore i4 to charge them.

I have the nitecore for the plethora of Samsung, Sony, and LG 18650s I've acquired along with some 18490 and 18350. It's $17 on amazon, never had an issue with it and it charges all sizes of batteries.

^I have to agree with synapse though, most of the time I'm just picking up a monsterpack of AA or AAA from Harbor Freight, Radio Shack, Staples whenever they're insanely cheap. It's just more convenient. Hi-Drain stuff like flashlights and electronic cigarettes gets the rechargeable treatment.

Yeah I buy a pack of 50 for $12-$13 and they last me like 6 months...but obviously everyone's uses vary. i dont have kids for example

same (though i just end up getting whatever the white tops are, regardless of whether they're actual name-brand eneloops)...

...and i do it as much because i fucking hate it when an alkaline leaks all over something nice and i have to clean the fucker out with vinegar

it doesn't even seem to be the cheap batteries that do it...i've had more duracells do it than any other brand

As for rechargeables, I just this week purchased 16 AA's and 16 AAA Eneloop's. Went with the Lacrosse BC-1000 charger. Loving them so far.

Replacing my TV remote's batteries ~2 years, it'd take me a couple decades to break even with the cost of putting rechargeables in the same remote.

Now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I buy new TV's / get new DVRs that come with batteries faster than my regular batteries actually die
