Die antwood was a bad choice, but overall I liked the movie. If you like robots/ai/future type things, it's not a bad watch.

I don't know what kind of fetish Neill Blomkamp has for rappers, but generally they don't improve the quality of a movie (unless it's an action movie and the rapper is Will Smith)

Eminem would have been a disaster in Elysium.

I just watched Big Hero 6 yesterday, and seeing the 2 movies together really puts Chappie to shame. The screenwriters of chappie took what could have been an amazing concept and completely botched the execution.

I think blokamp is great at creating atmospheres and visuals that seem realistic, but he sucks at the story telling part of directing.

Incidentally, I don't think I've ever seen short circuit.

I thought it was too dark and depressing. There is very little levity in the movie. I also agree Die antwood was a bad choice. The only characters that I cared about was Chappie and the Engineer.

Entertaining movie if you are at all a sci-fi fan. Not as good as District 9 but still fun. Seemed like Robocop + Short Circuit. Hugh Jackman seemed like a waste for me though -- he's typically a good actor but his character seemed so one dimensional. I understand that he wanted the moose system to be deployed so that it could prove itself, but seriously, shutting down all robots in the entire city and causing all those riots? He didn't even hesitate. And after all that talk about how awesome the Moose was, it got taken down ultimately by a grenade to the face.

Watched it yesterday, and did not enjoy it very much. The movie's tones were all over the place, and whenever it switched between them, they did not mesh at all. I absolutely love violent action movies, but when America got cut in half, it just seemed so completely out of place for this movie.

Vulture made me crack up : "Avatar meets RoboCop meets Short Circuit starring Jar Jar Binks."

I dug it anyway, except the mandatory mullets.
