I'm hoping this election cycle, combined with the Dem primary in 08, puts preassure on states to vote later. So many states have been trying to go as early as possible (and who can blame them when in 2000 and 2004 everything was mostly wrapped up by Super Tuesday), but now that this process has been going later and later, states may want to spread out more.

Or, and this would be even better, we could have a primary day and everyone vote at once following debates and campaigning.

I'd be fine with that, as long as it happened closer to the nominating conventions.

And everyone should be able to vote for any candidate in any party by only showing one photo ID upon arrival.

Then essentially the primaries would the main voting experience, and the vote in November is simply a runoff between 2 top candidates.

the cool thing about spreading them out is that it gives the people of states like iowa and new hampshire a voice they wouldn't have otherwise. Same day primaries would mean all of the focus is on courting the voters of ny california texas florida pennsylvania.

It gives them a disproportionate voice. There's zero reason for Iowa and NH to carry any real weight in the elections.

The one positive of the extended primary season is that it helps to winnow down the number of candidates,

Maybe they should be ordered from smallest to largest. Gives the small states attention and makes it so candidates have to be committed for the long haul

Wikipedia eh?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/05/07/AR2008050703932.html?sid=ST2008050703934

In short, the effect of "Operation Chaos" was overblown. And GOP voters are predominantly white and middle/lower class...I think you can presume why they would prefer to vote for Hillary over Obama even without Limbaugh's operation.

Quote :
"
But at least as much data suggested that many Republicans voted for Clinton because the Democratic primary was the more meaningful one and because they simply preferred her to Obama. In Indiana, about nine in 10 GOP Clinton voters said she would make a better commander in chief, and more than six in 10 said she would have a better shot at beating McCain."

hilarious considering your position on southern states voting early. I guess the voices that you think should be heard tend to come from white mouths

i can't help but think of 2012 Karl Rove as I listen to all the 'splaining

Why do you insist on making everything about race? I like the idea of going small to large because you can't just focus on one region at a time. Candidates are known to change their platform as the election shifts and they would look silly if you spread out when different parts of each region voted.

The official 2016 FeelTheBern 'splainin select-o-matic

"The problem is that _________________"

A: southern states vote early
B: blacks can't think for themselves
C: the polls are inherently biased
D: we have shit media
E: superdelegates
F: there aren't enough caucuses
G: caucuses don't really work
H: wall street
I: voter fraud
J: people change platforms (but only the people I like are allowed to, the others are just political opportunists)

I like the cries of voter fraud the best, because that only plays into the GOP efforts to enact voter ID laws

i do agree with the idea that its wrong to think poor people support socialism just because it supports them. go to a place like mississippi and you will find droves of people who support the current system.

One campaign can't undo centuries of propaganda.

Poor people will always vote in support of rich people, because they've been brainwashed by the concept of the "American Dream" that tells them that someday they most certainly will be rich, too.

Sarah Palin predicted it on January 19th. I'm not sure how I feel about having to acknowledge that her crazy speech was actually point on.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oyfUu_fNQfM

Quote :
"We, you, a diverse dynamic, needed support base that they would attack. And now, some of them even whispering, they’re ready to throw in for Hillary over Trump because they can’t afford to see the status quo go. Otherwise, they won’t be able to be slurping off the gravy train that’s been feeding them all these years. They don’t want that to end."

Today we have this...

""We would have to believe her actions would be quite different than her rhetoric. Let me put it that way,""

And theres no reason to believe they wouldn't be considering her rhetoric is also different from her old rhetoric.

anyway, bernie's latest fundraising email uses the photo of the clintons with the trumps at his wedding. because when your unobtainable policy promises fail to get you wins, you gotta go to the mats or something. such solicitations are basically burning money. but hey, at least he's redistributing money from the masses in to the coffers of broadcast networks and whatnot.

^^ not that the Clinton/Trump connection isn't known, Bill even said very recently (past year) Trump is a friend.

Seems pretty damning for both Trump and Hillary how chummy they really are.
