It's about that time, drafts could be starting in a month.

My first question: We get 3 keepers, no restrictions, any 3 on your roster at the end of last year. I've got 5 that I'm considering.

Prob keeping - Odell Beckham Jr, Jamaal Charles
Can only keep one of these 3 - Peyton Manning, Alshon Jeffrey, Mike Evans, Torrey Smith, Zach Ertz, Jordan Cameron, Rashad Jennings, Owen Daniels, Darren McFadden, Shane Vereen

I feel like it might be time to let Peyton go. I've had him for probably 6 years and I just don't know if there's enough separation anymore. Plus I could always get him back potentially (guys like Rodgers, Luck, Cam, Romo, Rivers, Brady, maybre even Brees and Romo are usually kept, so they don't need 2 QBs). So I guess the real question is Alshon being the only WR in Chicago or Mike Evans with a new QB

Got #1 overall in a 12 team PPR. Seems tougher than in previous years on who to select. Feels like more WRs+Gronk will go Round 1. Luckily there's over a month left to decide!

Pick 1 RB to keep in a keeper .5 PPR 10 team league:

Demarco Murray
Arian Foster
Jeremy Hill

My other keepers are Luck, Dez Bryant, and Odell Beckham JR

I'm more of a Jeremy Hill fan, but I'm very interested to see what Murray can do with an offensive line that is just as good in rush blocking and with an offence that takes 8 more snaps a game than Dallas.

tru

Slightly leaning towards Charles at the moment & I feel like RB is the way to go with a near toss up between Charles, AP, Lacy, Bell, Lynch. Also hoping the Alshon/Graham combo works out in Round 2/3.

Got my draft tonight in my 2-QB/Keeper league. This is a PPC/PPR league and is pretty QB reliant. I'm second pick and need to pick one. Top 5 QBs on the board are Wilson, Peyton Manning, Romo, Eli, Brady.

Need some advice. My keepers are Lacy and D. Thomas

I'd probably just roll with whoever is left of Wilson/Peyton, though I don't think you can really go wrong with the other options (taking Brady might hurt in the short term w/ the suspension). Who were your QBs last year?

Well all of them will be available. The first pick already has Brees as a keeper and will probably go with a RB.

My QBs last year killed me. Dalton, Flacco, Nick Foles/Sanchez.

I've got the 8th pick in a 10 team league this weekend. No keepers, 0.5 PPR.

I'd be pretty pleased with Dez at 8, but I'm not convinced he'll still be there. I'm thinking my best bet is to go WR with #8 overall, just given how most guys are ranked, and then grab a RB when it snakes back around to me #12. So, anybody got any thoughts about how they'd rank that group of top WRs...guys like Dez, Demaryius Thomas, Julio Jones, etc? Obviously if somebody unexpected falls to me, I'm not married to the idea of WR then RB...I just feel like that's gonna be the most likely scenario that plays out.

I feel like there are a TON of good receivers to be had later in the draft this year, so going RB/RB might not be the end of the world. I would probably go RB in the first round, then take the best available WR/RB in the second

dont get caught up in the bidding war early on. The first few players will have outrageous bids because the the bank is full so go into the auction with a plan of dollar limits for player or position and stick to it. Just like stocks - keep emotion out of it.

i do agree that WR seems pretty deep this year. i guess i was just thinking of going with best player available, regardless of position, with my #8. and i am kinda projecting that to be a WR, but it'll all depend on the guys drafting before me. i definitely don't think i can afford to get out of the first 2 rounds with no RB.

Bell, Peterson, Charles, Lacy, Lynch, and maybe Matt Forte and CJ Anderson are worth a first round pick. If those arent available I would take the best WR available.

In a keeper league and wanted to get some thoughts on what I should do. 12 team league, ppr.

I can keep 3 players, and they bump up 2 rounds from where they were picked last year.

I got C.J. Anderson in the 15th so he'll be my 13th round selection, can't pass up on that.

Other options include:
Emmanuel Sanders - would be a 2nd Round pick
T.Y. Hilton - would be a 3rd round pick
Seahawks Def - would be a 7th round pick
Steve Smith - 9th Round pick
Antonio Gates - 10th Round pick
Joseph Randle - 10th Round pick
St. Louis Def - 10th Round pick

If I keep more than 1 of the 10th it would bump it up to the 9th. Was thinking Hilton for sure, but didn't know if it would be worth Sanders as a 2nd round pick. I could just keep the two with Hilton and Anderson and draft from there. Gates and Randle could have value in the 10th but Gates is probably going to drop anyway.

Randle for sure, then I'd go with Hilton. 3rd Round is about right for him in redraft leagues, in a keeper league he'd definitely go higher.

Hey so i'm in this dynasty league, its pretty intense. (Its standard head to head scoring). Ive got a draft question, (I have pick #2~!!!)

When this league was formed 15 years ago, we held a big auction of the entire player pool. Its a 70 dollar salary cap, which gets realllly tight due to player prices. I'll get to that later. In the years since the first auction, we hold a yearly free agent period, in which people can bid on players that are not under contract, and then we hold a draft where the rest of players in the pool can be drafted.

As for free agency, its a 2 week long period, (its hell for the commish), where people can bid up other owners players that are not currently under contract. If your player is bid up, you can either release them and get draft picks as compensation, (the higher the bid, the better the draft pick), or match the salary bid and keep the player. Many a friendship has been lost during this arduous time.

We then hold a draft for all the available players not currently on a team. Its 8 rounds. First round picks cost $5 , 2nd rounders are $4.50, etc,. Remember, there is a 70 dollar salary cap. Its rare that I ever make all my picks because im always close to cap going into the draft. After the draft each year we can sign our new players for up to a 4 year contract. Obviously a player can't be bid on during free agency while still under contract, But obviously they can be traded.

As you can probably guess, most good veteran players are not available in the draft, because they are already on teams... so its basically a rookie's only draft at this point. Since I have pick #2, i'm thinking I either take Gurley or Cooper, whichever is available.... However i'm thinking about going rogue... which I will explain below:

Anyway, that was way too much information. Here is my question:

Who do I take #2 overall? Omari Cooper, Gurley, or Abdullah?

My starting lineup is somewhat decent but missing one or two pieces....

QB: Tannyhill
RB: Jon Stewart
RB:
nobody Big problem here.
WR:AJ Green
WR: Eddie Royal
Flex: Devante Adams (Nelson tore his ACL so Adams should be goood).

On my bench, I have Kelvin Benjamin , Cody Latimer, Ridley ugh and P-Rivs.

If Gurley isn't taken #1 overall, He'd be a no brainer if I was definitely playing for next year. He could be a stud in the years to come....My team isnt great but in head to head fantasy football, a lot of luck takes place. If I could draft an impactful running back here, then I think I could have a playoff team on my hands.

Cooper is probably the safe pick here. He should be a top 20 WR this year, and also be a great keeper for future. This is what I am thinking i should do. Even though I already have a plethora of good WRs, and really need a running back to compete this year. But maybe i should just punt on the year... see these decisions are tough!!

Abdullah is my "Going Rogue" pick. I would Shock Da Warlddd as they say. I know Joique is there, but he's 29, coming off leg injuries... Abdullah is a dynamic runner, and despite being undersized he has a statuesque physique. I just really think he is gonna be one of the next great RB's in the NFL. But I also thought Tom Brady was a flash in the pan after his first Super Bowl (truth), so I probably shouldn't listen to myself.

What do you guys think?

^^ Wow those are the only options at the #2 pick? Crazy league. Without a second RB you are out of luck. I would probably go Gurley, Abdullah, and then Cooper. Any option to temporarily pick up Tre Mason? Cooper is talented but he plays on the Raiders. Derek Carr sucks.

Here is my question:

14th pick in a 14 team 0.5 pt ppr league. I thought I had my keepers locked up but with the Jordy Nelson Injury I am now rethinking things. Which two players would you keep?

Andrew Luck (costs a 3rd round pick)

Brandin Cooks (costs a 5th round pick)

Davante Adams (costs a last round pick)

Originally I was going with Luck and Cooks. It looks like Luck is going around 15th overall and Cooks 26th overall in 14 team ppr leagues. Adams value should skyrocket. I'm now considering Cooks and Adams and taking best available RB and Luck with the 14th and 15th picks.

Thoughts?

^^^yeah, def go Cooks & Adams. I'd be perfectly content with waiting on QB, unless good value falls to me.

^Pretty solid, might be slightly weak at WR if Fitzgerald continues to regress and Funchess doesn't excel this year.

Picking #7 in a 12-team 0.5 PPR league tomorrow. My strategy is to take a top 4 RB (AP, Lacy, Bell, Charles) if they fall. If not, then one of Dez, Brown, Julio at WR. 2nd round I'm hoping DeMarco falls to me. 3rd round I'd just go BPA unless Luck/Rodgers falls (though QB TD passes are 4 pts, so Luck may have more value).

^yeah i'm not crazy about my WRs after Dez Bryant, but hopefully having Graham at TE will make up some of the difference.

as for your draft, that was my strategy as well. I knew none of the top 5 RBs would fall to me (Lynch, AP, Bell, Charles, Lacy) so I was basically deciding between WRs...because IMO, that next teir of RBs (Murray, Forte, McCoy, etc) would still be there when my 2nd round pick snaked around. I think that's probably your best strategy if you're picking 7/8/9...get a top WR in the 1st (unless somebody falls, of course) and still be able to get a pretty solid RB1 in the 2nd round.

Derek Carr will be good I think. I wish I could snag Tre Mason, but its probably not in the cards... Hmm But maybe if I offer a 2016 first rounder... I'll look into this and report back/

God, im an idiot for not thinking of this sooner!! Because then I can still try to win this year, even though I'd be taking Gurley who will sit out, because Tre Mason will pick up the slack until then.

If I can't get Mason, Im defintely taking Coops at this point..

why do people always pick their defense & kicker so early?

unless the league has some unique scoring for d/st then there's no reason to grab one so early & i can't envision a scoring system that would make me take a kicker before the last round (or at all if you don't have to draft one)

In my league, the top projected D and the 12th (just going off that number if everybody only had one) is ~40 points difference. Having 2-3 points per week (our league scores in the 60s usually) could be important. I went with D in the 11th or 12th probably of 16 rounds. Kicker was last though.

I never draft a kicker unless I have to. I'd rather keep as many RB/WR potential lottery tickets that could pay off due to late injuries as I can right before Week 1 games start. To a lesser extent, same reason why I don't draft a second QB (unless I play matchups if I miss out on a tier 1 QB).

Defense in the ~12th or so round isn't so bad...if you can get one of the top 2 or 3 defenses. Otherwise, I wait until the final 2 rounds for kicker and defense. Depending on my QB, I may not draft a back up. I'm in a 10 team league and drafted Brees. I'm comfortable enough with him that I shouldn't need a 2nd QB until his bye week.

in my case, other people in the draft were making moves on those positions already. we maybe could have waited another round on the defense, but i figured i'd go ahead and grab the #2 DST on my list instead of getting the#8 or #9 a round later. the kicker pick... i usually always wait until the last round to take a kicker. the reason i didn't here was because the scoring system rewards longer kicks (extra point per 10 yards beyond 30), and I wanted to end up with wheaton (I think he's a sleeper to have a good year) and Starks (handcuff to Lacy) and I knew they'd both be there.

I can happily report that I was indeed able to Snag Tre Mason, but I had to send Tannyhill packing. Luckily I had Privs to take the reigns.

So now I can happily take Gurely preparing for next year, while having Tre Mason as a starter while I wait and try to win now.

While JStew and Mason arent quite Charles and AP level players, they are both RB2 types this year I'd say, and with the strong wideouts I'll be fielding, (AJ Green, Devante Adams, Ed Royal), my team will be a tough out for most.

With a little extra luck, I could possibly slip into playoffs as a wildcard...

If not, then hopefully Gurely will be fantasy gold by next season and I'll be primed for a championship then.

I am in a standard league and this year I am going to draft almost purely on ADP from http://www.fantasypros.com/nfl/adp/overall.php

My strategy is going to be RB, WR, WR/RB, QB, and then best available WR/RB/TE until the last two rounds with a back up QB thrown in there somewhere. Every year I let personal bias get in the way and I make a stupid pick or two, going to see if going strictly by ADP will help that. My regular league is more a throwaway anyways, I will spend most of my time on the one week leagues.

I've already received a trade proposal.. Roster first:

QB Ben Roethlisberger
WR OBJ
WR Alshon
WR Fitzgerald
RB Jamaal Charles
RB Mark Ingram
TE Witten

BN Decker
BN Chris Ivory
BN Crowell
BN Carson Palmer
BN Zach Ertz
BN Matt Jones
BN Doug Baldwin

Trade wants Chris Ivory for Knile Davis. It would give me security for JC, but I give up a starting RB. Would also make my bye week go to Crowell or maybe Jones gets some burn. But if JC does go down Davis would probably immediately be one of my best rbs.

Also, my TEs potentially suck.

^^ I'd do that trade. The Jets will be awful and chris Ivory might get 800 yards if youre lucky. Plus they will be rotating the carries around in the backfield.

The security of having Kniles is worth giving up a mediocre back who wouldn't sniff the starting lineup of most teams.

Just found this tool that I am going to use with my draft, pretty cool because it combines a lot of sources which should make it much more accurate than one source. You can set it up for your league and if you click on a player it removes them from the list (they can be added back).

First draft in the books. Overall, I feel like the group is well-rounded, though I feel like I should have went RB in Round 3 (torn between Matthews & Latavius Murray), then went for a WR in Round 4 (possibilty of Sanders or Adams). Really hope those former Clemson RBs can live up to at least 90% of their potential, otherwise I'll be scouring that waiver wire hourly for servicable RBs. Wanted to get both Browns RBs, but Crowell went the pick right after Duke (rather have Duke anyway). I'm sure I'll drop DeAngelo after Week 2 once Bell comes back, though I may consider him the first to drop for a K. Loving my WR group!

1. (7) Jamaal Charles (KC - RB)
2. (18) Calvin Johnson (Det - WR)
3. (31) Jordan Matthews (Phi - WR)
4. (42) Andre Ellington (Ari - RB)
5. (55) Greg Olsen (Car - TE)
6. (66) C.J. Spiller (NO - RB)
7. (79) Charles Johnson (Min - WR)
8. (90) John Brown (Ari - WR)
9. (103) Duke Johnson Jr. (Cle - RB)
10. (114) Eli Manning (NYG - QB)
11. (127) Seattle (Sea - DEF)
12. (138) Breshad Perriman (Bal - WR)
13. (151) DeAngelo Williams (Pit - RB)
14. (162) Cameron Artis-Payne (Car - RB)

So I found out I can't keep Randle because I picked him up after the playoffs started and that isn't allowed.

So my last keeper if I want to even use it would be the following:
Emmanuel Sanders - would be a 2nd Round pick
Seahawks Def - would be a 7th round pick
Steve Smith - 9th Round pick
Antonio Gates - 10th Round pick
St. Louis Def - 10th Round pick

Not sure if any of those would be worth it. For what it is worth I draft 11th. 12 Team league.
