Is it possible to use the AV out on a device to link it on your Wifi?

I have an infant monitor (summer) that is not the WiFi model. It was given to us, and I was trying to see if there was a way to avoid the $200-$300 cost of replacing them with a WiFi model. We have two cameras and one handheld.

Basically I want to find a way to keep our monitor on, hook up some type of AV out to Wifi adapter, and then use my phone to access our network so I can see the monitor from my phone.

Just so we can put both kids to bed, and then go next door while still seeing them. I will be out of range of the Wifi, so I would also need a way to get in remotely.

Is this possible? Or am I looking at a hefty replacement bill if I want to do it?

what AV out does the monitor have?

It's just an AV out connection. Looks like a mini-usb.

I have a mini-usb to USB adapter and that when I plug it into the monitor it shuts off (making me think it is passing the signal), however when I plug it up to my computer it doesn't recognize it.

I'm having a bit of trouble coming up with a search phrase on finding software that could read this because whenever I type AV I'm getting antivirus results.

My thought now was if I could hook it up to my computer and have a life feed running, I could remote desktop into my computer and see it from there. Don't know if that would work, but just thought I would try.

at the very least post the model of monitor you have, how do you expect anyone to help you without giving them any information?

It was more of a question of AV out to a computer feed.

might not help, but I believe A/V is the proper syntax for Audio/Video, to help weed out the AntiVirus results

i couldn't find any information except that there is a recall for exploding batteries, but assuming that a/v out means RCA plugs you could use a USB capture device for your computer

should be the same as live streaming any AV input from a PC/Mac. There's many ways to do it, but it all depends on the equipment and software you have.

Or you can drop $200 on a dropcam and it does it all natively.

Or you can just use the Presence app.

We used an old ipad or old iphone as the webcam. Then you can log in from any phone from anywhere and see the video/audio. It's awesome for a free app and hardware you likely have sitting around already.

OR, just get a cheap DLink or whatever IP camera and connect that to your network. They're like $40.

Yeah a $20 webcam will work. There's a bunch of free remote webcam apps out there. A lot of them even have motion detection. I used to use one when our dog was a puppy and liked to destroy things in the house.

Hmmm, the only issue is that I need 2 cameras. The handheld I have right now has a scanning feature that alternates between the two rooms.

I don't have any old iDevices around, so I don't think the presense app would help.

It seems like I would need to get two wireless IP cameras, and log into them separately to see each room.

presence may work with a webcam too.
