When I heard there was going to be a live-action remake of the Jungle Book, I thought back to the one they made in the 90's and it was awful. But then I saw this trailer and I'm actually kind of excited.

All-star cast:

Bagheera - Ben Kingsly
Baloo - Bill Murray
Sher Khan - Idris Elba
King Louie - Christopher Walken
Kaa - ScarJo
Mama Wolf - Lupita Nyong'o

None of that is location shooting.

All studio.

Supposedly the most advanced movie ever made in terms of effects.

Hope it doesn't bankrupt the CGI studio like Life of Pi did.

the cast seems incredible, and the trailer was awesome, hopefully it lives up to both

^^Disney, I would think, should have the in-house capabilities to do all the CGI, but if they shopped it out, the lowest bid likely won. That wouldn't hurt Disney at all, but could hurt that company. Of course, Life of Pi was in 2012, so I'd think advances have been made in the past 3 years that would make it a bit cheaper to do so much CGI from a production company standpoint.

In the 1994 version they used real animals. Awful script and acting, but damn was that cool to see a real monkey put on a crown.

We are firmly in uncanny valley territory with this shit. Looks (and I mean purely in a visual sense) terrible.

Coming soon. I'm looking forward to it, although I'm afraid it may be uncanny Valley territory as VB suggested.

The more trailers I see, the less excited I've become.

The new Tarzan movie, while less interesting to me story wise, looks much better done. Both movies have killer casts.

I went Saturday evening with a friend and her 9yo daughter and a couple of her friends. I thought it was really well done and I we all enjoyed it.

My only complaint is that many of the scenes happened at night or in otherwise dark locations. I get that the dark parts fit the storyline, but I'm guessing it's just easier/cheaper to do effects with less complex lighting to account for.

My family went Friday night and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Normally too much CGI annoys me, but whether it was the story or how well-done the CGI was, I didn't really notice it.

Really loved this. Bagira and Sher Khan killed it. So did the kid. Wouldn't be opposed to rewatching it either.

Saw this tonight and loved it. The CGI was surprisingly well done and I like the tweaks they made to the story.

My one complaint was King Louis. I thought Christopher Walken was great, even if he came across as an Italian mob boss. But he didn't need to sing. There was a clear choice not to do all of the original songs, and I thought putting in Bear Necessities fit well with Baloo's laid-back character, but King Louis went from Godfather to jazz singer.

They played ScarJo singing Kaa's song from the original during the credits, but left it out of her big scene because it clearly didn't fit with the darker tone they gave the character. Even though "Be Like You" is my favorite song from the original, it didn't need to be there. It made more sense when King Louis was more of a goofball.

Saw this a couple of weeks ago. CGI was very impressive, the kid was really good, voice over was good. Movie was pretty enjoyable overall. I wasn't a big fan of the changes to the plot, but definitely a showcase of what can be done.

I was fine with the plot, but was still expecting him to go back to the man village at the end.

It was really good for a Jon Favreau production. I thought Walken was the best. It needed more mystery and real fear like that.
