Hope Keuchel fucks the Yankees up, but I'm torn on the NLWC.. I'd like them both to do well, at the Cards expense. Oh well, at least there's no Giants

If the Mets pitchers can just keep it close until getting to the Dodger's bullpen, then they can take the series. Mets for sure have the better hitters, so DeGrom and Syndergaard don't necessarily have to be lights out for this to go well.

Offense is hot and cold. If early Sept offense shows up they can win. Happy we don't have to face the two studs at twilight..

Games 1 and 2 will have shadows. But that will benefit our pitchers as well.

NL Stats since the all star break
Batting Avg: Mets #6, Dodgers #12
Runs Scored: Mets #1, Dodgers #13
Slugging: Mets #1, Dodgers #12

Neutral fan rooting a Houston-Pittsburgh World Series just to piss off the television people and keep away (most) bandwagon fans, so yeah give me them in the WC games.

Shadows are fine. 4 start would be that awful mound in sun and plate in shade scenario...

Media going to go ham about Harvey in 3...2...1.

Houston up 1-0 on the Yankees top of the 2nd with the bases loaded and 2 outs.

edit: Grounds out. Crisis averted.

Great pitching in this game. Houston has 2 solo homers but Tanaka has pitched out of tough spots so far.

I just hope the Royals can take it home this year, they probably went deeper than they should have last year, but this season they've been the best team in the AL from the start. They should have enough to make it to the WS, but I worry about their starting pitching vs. almost any of the NL's starters.

They're in a similar position to the Rays a few years back, a great crop of young, home grown talent that they probably aren't going to be able to keep long term. Window is probably closing in another season or two.

GG Astros. Rooting for the Cubs tonight and my sentimental pick to win the WS. Would love to see a Royals-Cubs WS.

If I'm betting, I'd take the Jays. Dodgers are setup well with the Kershaw and Greinke, but Kershaw needs to actually perform in the playoffs before I could trust that team.

I don't understand leaving Arrieta out there for 9 innings. Seems unnecessary. If it was 1-0 or 2-0 then sure, but with a 4 run lead you don't need him out there I'm the 8th and 9th.

Glad to see the Cubs win though, I hope they can take St. Louis out.

Well it's either throw him again on 2 days rest which would never happen, or he gets normal 4 days rest. In one game where he's dominating I probably wouldn't risk fucking with it either.

I think 3 would be better, but at the same time the playoffs are already going to go on through early November so that would add even more time, and make each game matter less, which I think is what turns people off. Nothing matters until game 4-5-6-7

Because you don't fuck around in a one game playoff, and our bullpen is shaky at best. Jake also will get plenty of rest before his next start.

That would be inevitable. Comes with the territory. Alas, the Cardinals own us so it's probably moot.

(I guess Boston finally getting over on NY would also be a good comparison to Cubs/Cards.)

Agree 100%. Baseball needs to shorten their season, expand to 5 game opening round (maybe even go full 7) and 7 thereafter. Baseball is a sport that you really do need a series to determine who the best team is.

Baseball needs to do what basketball has done. Realize that playoffs are all matters, shorten the seasons (hallowed baseball stats be damned) and have epic playoff series. Expand to 6 teams and follow the NFL playoff system giving byes to the top teams. Make the wild card series 5 games, everything else 7 games. End the season by early September so it doesn't get drowned out by football.

Owners would never go for it, but long term it would create more value for the league just like the NBA franchises have exploded in value.

Sure the Dodgers have the two best starters in this series, but ESPN is showing that they don't necessarily have a real edge if you look at the entire pitching staff:

^^^^ I think the Dodgers also have the better position players overall. I think there's a pretty decent chance the Dodgers sweep.

Clearly. It would be impossible to argue, for example that the Dodgers are better in the infield and that while Yoenis is better than anybody in the Dodgers are better than the platoon situation the Mets are probably going to run out there. Also, clearly the mets largely left lineup couldn't be an issue given the Dodgers rotation consisting of 3 lefties.

So yes, clearly.

Bobby Bonilla is making $1.19 million this year (and will make that much annually until 2035), the Mets paid deGrom and Harvey $1.17 million this year

Also, god damn is it annoying that baseball still has pitchers going up to strike out/bunt in the year 2015.

NL pitching stats are so skewed because of the 3 free outs they get every game.
