UNC -6.5lower than I expected.

Opening line seems spot on. Superior team, just clinched the division and a spot in the conference championship game, playing a terrible opponent, looking ahead to Clemson. Trap game. Has all the makings of a 6 or 7 point UNC win. Which side you gonna take big baller?
11/23/2015 1:11:52 AM
Will have to look... who won last year? Revenge element is always present in NCAA. Also, does Marquise have any records to shoot for? I would imagine so... I dont see them letting up.

The difference between an expected record and a WTF how did we go 7-5 with this schedule is on the line this weekend. If Doeren should take one thing away from Tom O'Brien its that winning this game will keep you around even if things don't go well the rest of the season. We saw how they played against a marginal team in VT and surely we can score better at home than VT could so I like our chances. We have to survive the first quarter though, if they drop a couple 70 yard passes or a punt return on us we will fold and lose by 30+.
11/23/2015 8:46:36 AM
this game is a race to 50
11/23/2015 8:48:42 AM
man i hope so. most points theyve given up is 31 to ga tech...
11/23/2015 9:16:09 AM
about to ruin that season
11/23/2015 9:23:25 AM
^^everybody talked about their improved defense this year...and yes, it's better than their shitty-ass D last year. but it's still just an average D. they really haven't beaten anybody of note except Pitt and, overall, their D hasn't exactly been tested by high powered offenses. they're still better than us and they should win this game.
11/23/2015 9:33:35 AM
the only ranked team they've played all year is a Pitt team that was 23rd at the time?
11/23/2015 10:03:35 AM
Only way we win is ball-control and limit turnovers. Have to keep their offense on the sidelines and hope Williams has one of his turnover-happy games.I think we get embarrassed. They'll win kickoff, demand the ball first, and make us play from behind the entire game.Their run D is still really bad, but their pass D is much improved. Too bad our running game isn't nearly as good as it was down the stretch last year when Brissett was a legit running threat.
11/23/2015 10:09:07 AM
It's going to come down to whether or not our DBs stay at home when they run the flea flicker somewhere in their first drive.Of course... Or DBs are going to get roasted for big passes literally all day, so I don't see this being anything shy of a blood bath.
11/23/2015 10:27:02 AM
I'm 10-1 in games I've attended so hopefully I will make 11 wins and not Carolina.
11/23/2015 10:29:23 AM
3 Keys to this game:1. Can our D-line get pressure on 'Quise. He is a head case (see SC game) and if you can put him on his back a couple times early, he has a tendency to fold. 2. Can we run the ball. Our team is best when we control the line of scrimmage and run the ball. If we become 1 dimensional and are forced to throw the ball 50 times, we are almost certainly to end up with a L (see Clempson game). 3. Limit the big play on D. I haven't heard about the status of our injuries/ejections from the Syracuse game, but if we are thin in the secondary, we may get gashed on D. Bottom line: losing our best RB's hurt. We will struggle to move the ball on O, force throws, turn the ball over, get down early, and Hood will close out a 42-17 UNC victory. UNC fans will come out of the woodwork and I'll get hammered and say embarrassing things on social media.

^i agree to a large extent but some may argue his recent improvement so I wanted to use the most recent example
11/23/2015 12:15:57 PM
Just as important as getting pressure is confusing Marquise. SC made him look awful by disguising their coverages, not necessarily getting pressure. UNC's OL is pretty good, but so is our D-Line. Going to be a good matchup.Offensively, I think it really comes down to Jacoby. If he plays like he did the 1st half against Syracuse -- accurate, decisive, fast -- we can beat them. I think we'll run the ball just fine, but we're going to have to be able to throw too, because UNC will definitely put up some points
11/23/2015 1:40:05 PM
hot takes alert
11/23/2015 1:46:41 PM
Their run defense is suspect and their linebackers aren't great. I say we run the ball30Times on them. Control the clock. Limit turnovers and we win just like we did last year in chapelHill. Run the ball with a toughnessHit Williams over and over and over tillHe cries like last year.
11/23/2015 2:08:32 PM
look at all their strengths. we already give those things up so they don't really have an advantage on us.they get big plays---> we already give up big plays anywaythey have a good secondary---> we don't really try to exploit the secondary that neutralizes their entire strengthim not saying we're gonna winim just saying BELIEVE

Look at their schedule, and look at their away games. They play significantly better at home but struggle on the road, GT, VT, and Pitt are all average to good teams, but nothing special. I think we eek out a tough win. UNC is out for blood from last year and plus they're a better team on both sides of the ball. Their run game is significantly better due to the emergence of Hood who's a beast, easily a top-3 RB in the ACC which makes their offense even more dynamic. However, Doeren knows the significance of a win here, and even though he's generally an awful coach his coaching @UNC was impressive and he will have the team prepared on both sides.
11/23/2015 3:52:42 PM
take the penalty early, hit Quise late and hard....clean one of their receivers clocks coming across the middle. rather win dirty than lose cleanly
11/23/2015 4:11:27 PM
^^ have you even seen their stats or their team play?Hood isn't a beast. Dayes was/is a MUCH better NFL prospect. We win easily. UNC shuts the bed.

DD after the win last year:
11/25/2015 7:11:03 AM
^i think we only threw the ball like 11 times that game. we turned brissett loose in the run game like we hadn't done all season prior to that game. and we haven't done it as much this year either.
11/25/2015 7:39:40 AM
one thing going for us is the best version of unc has williams at QB and the worst version has williams at QB.
11/25/2015 8:03:59 AM
yep...he screwed them in the SCar game. and almost screwed them in the VT game. hope we can get some hits on him like last year and force him into a few mistakes. if you give him time, their entire offense will kill you. if you pressure him and get him out of rhythm he's prone to mistakes.
11/25/2015 9:27:24 AM
I know Hood is a beast, but what's their O line like? I recall them having some big time recruits on there in years past
11/25/2015 9:38:53 AM
i think their OL is better than it was last year. we dominated them up front last year.
11/25/2015 11:50:34 AM
I know it was against Syracuse, but seeing us finally start to give Gallaspy, Nichols and Hines the ball to run between the tackles makes me feel a lot better about the Carolina game. Once we lost Shadrach I thought we'd see a lot more of these guys behind Dayes, and after Dayes went down I thought we'd no doubt see more of them. It wasn't really until the Syracuse game we gave them the type of opportunities that Shadrach & Dayes got. To win against their offense we've got to control the time of possession. Hopefully Jacoby can get out and run some as well (although I thought we'd see a lot more of that this year than last and he's barely run at all).
11/25/2015 11:24:26 PM
We cant risk running jacoby. Gotta keep him healthy for the bowel game
11/25/2015 11:34:36 PM
An injury would surely damage his high draft potential
11/26/2015 12:29:45 AM
We should probably just forfeit this game. Avoid any risk of injury and start preparing for the military bowl vs USF.[Edited on November 26, 2015 at 1:43 PM. Reason : ]
