I use obihai with google voice but set my parents up with ooma and they like it.

My parents have a house phone but only because it's required for their security system. They never actually use it. Everything is just forwarded to their cell phones.

I just use Hangouts with a Logitech g930 headset. Works great.

I use Ooma. I got it when I was in an apartment with spotty cell reception and a newborn. We've kept it even though we moved, mostly because it's like $4-5 a month, so why not, just as a backup.

Does it have 911 service? I want it for my vacation rental but I dont wanna pay $$ cuz it will likely never be used.

yes. it has 911. That is literally all that the money is for.
