His defensive effort today was reminded me of women's games against UConn when UConn is up 90. Completely uninterested and worthless. Gott should make him watch the film and tell him he's not playing this week. Fucking ridiculous seeing that kind of effort at a D1 level.

He was awful today. So slow, can't dribble, and was totally lost on defense. And to make matters worse, he missed several open shots today. Too bad Dorn looked just as bad. Maybe we should just play Henderson, johnson, and smith next game.

Dorn was goven way fewer scoring chances and was baically ised in mop up time. He looks like a player whose confidence has been shaken because of his playing time getting jerked around

dorn started the year looking great. he's been pretty bad lately...maybe it's a confidence thing with his minutes being so up and down. maybe it was just a fluke how hot he started the season. dorn's FT shooting has really taken a nose dive. he's 14 of his last 28 by my count. he started the season 29 of 37.

again looks like a guy who has been affected by inconsistent playing time and lack of support by his coach. In a professional sport, I'd consider a player like that a great "change of scenery candidate" lol

I just thought of Rowan's peformance yesterday and threw up in my mouth a little bit. He has got to be better next game, right?

Overall good bonce back game. Still left some guys wide open in first half but his offense was big and he actually made some defensive plays.

Neat so if Hendo doesn't get his last year, we have no shooters on the team....

best of luck to Mav...sounds like he's going overseas to play professionally.

we definitely need Henderson back and the grad transfer from Baylor so that we can have some shooters on the team.

That was the same before today. Mav wasn't even good at his one trick. Good day for the program. Would rather see Kirk. At least he has some foot speed.

Jeez. Maverick was a fine 3 point shooter. He wasn't Scott wood but he was still a solid shooter. I'm not even trying to be some maverick fanboy apologist. I think mav is a totally replaceable player. But some of the shit y'all are saying about him is really stretching reality here. Not suited for an acc roster...Kirk > mav...mav is bad shooter....a good day for the program when he leaves...fuck outta here with that shit.

The numbers back it up. He was the worst regular in the ACC.

^i found this on the backingthepack and, as expected, the efficiency numbers aren't great. but hardly worst in the ACC.

Quote :
"Though he was slowed in the early going by a concussion, Rowan made great strides in efficiency in his sophomore campaign. He upped his true shooting percentage from .496 to .562 and his eFG% from .464 to .536 while making incremental gains in rebounding, assist, and steal percentages. He led the team by making 85% of his free throws. Still, his 14.1 player efficiency rating was just sixth among players who received regular minutes."

the 6th in efficiency rating is on the roster, obviously.

Any numbers. ^This just shows shooting percentages. He shot 36% from three. Same as DSJr/Dorn and lower than Henderson. And yeah he was a great FT shooter, but had the lowest FT rate on the team at .162. You want to use True Shooting? His .562% was only better than Omer, Anya, and Markell.

Defensive rating: 114.4. Only Corchiani worse. Tucker Thompson was rated better.

WS/40 (Win shares/40 minutes) Overall rating:

DSJr: .142
Henderson: .105
Kapita: .092
Abu: .091
Dorn: .083
Maverick .079

Hate on. Don't care. Dude is gone.

Except you claimed "The numbers back it up. He was the worst regular in the ACC," not the worst on the team, which he isn't either.

^^ what I posted showed his efficiency rating which isn't just shooting percentages. It's supposed to be more of an all encompassing stat. He was 6th on the team. That's not particularly good at all...nobody's arguing that he is really good. But it's not "worst regular in the acc" bad. And none of the stats you posted would indicate that he's the worst player in the conference. Mav was far from great. Y'all acting liking he was the worst player to ever suit up is stretching it. That's all.

I lold. He's "only" better than these 3 players on the team in this stat. And only like 8 players got regular minutes...so he's exactly middle of the pack using that stat.

That's the issue. He's not a top end guy and he's playing 35 minutes a game. And he took minutes away from better players both years he was here because Gottfried had a giant boner for him.

[Edited on April 14, 2017 at 8:16 PM. Reason : My issue was never really with Rowan, it's not his fault Gottfired wanted to play him constantly.]

Walk-ons defended better than him. Just let that sink in. I'm not pulling numbers for all ACC but I almost guarantee his defensive efficiency is the worst in the conference. But keep playing the good guys and act like you will actually miss him.

^^^You lol at that? He is a shooter right? He shot better than 2 centers and a freshman PG. Wow.

pretty sure the stats where walk ons defended better are seriously skewed by small sample size and the players they were playing against. not sure i'd put much stock in that. but nobody ever said he was a good defender. you went from "he's the worst player in the acc" to "he's one of the worst on the team". nobody's trying to be a good guy and act like he was a great player. i think people just take exception with your view that he's the worst player in the conference.

yeah i lol at it when it's your argument for him being the worst player in the entire conference.

http://www.sports-reference.com/cbb/conferences/acc/2017-stats.html

you can sort by win share and Mav is 93rd in the ACC, or by PER and he's 115th but theres ~19 players that only played a handful of games you can take out so 96th.

Kapita seems like the only one who really should have played more based on advanced numbers, but Mav leaving won't be a big deal

His PER and WS are better than Yurtseven. Guess Yurt wasn't a "regular"

And I am also not some huge Mav defender. I just think it's pathetic when people obsess over hating some 18-22 year olds.
