Many a site has been built with PHP and MySQL, and they need people to maintain them.

Lots of small businesses are just now upgrading their workstations from XP. Cutting edge stuff is not always required.

I for one have the lolz in /r/javascript whenever anyone says stuff like "Who still supports IE8?" and "Just use ES6 classes and promises already."

You should basically never listen to smoothcrim, because he says shit like this as if it's meaningful in any way.

Im not writing enterprise apps so i understand the vogue talk. Small business apps to help with things. Simple ticketing system, product shelf life system. Simple shop work order tracking. Pretty SAP custom modules that the small guy cant afford.

github you can't host the DB there, plus all your user/passes would be readable in the repo

use github to show off the code, and openshift/heroku/whatever to show the site working

[Edited on January 20, 2016 at 1:02 PM. Reason : i like php, but i like to play wild and loose with my typing]
