I have an iPhone and hotmail email.
My husband has an android phone and yahoo email.

There are individual calendars applications on each of these 4 platforms so we want to be able to add a calendar entry on any of these at any given time. Question is how do we sync them all together so that we can see all our calendar entries together, whether we are using our phone or laptops?

You just have to stop using Yahoo/Hotmail calendars...which will definitely help you in the long run

does hotmail use the old interface, or the new outlook.com interface? if you are using it on a browser, the outlook calendar is better to use than google

^pretty much everyone uses google. i also use outlook.com but i didn't know that anyone used yahoo except for logging into flickr

you can add these accounts to each others phones and choose to only allow calendar access. then you can both see and edit each others' calendars. you can also create a shared calendar and copy events to it.
