Its not my words. Someone on here said abu was gone to the nba for sure. For sure means 100% probability.

but nobody ever said he was a lottery pick. it would seem is very, very likely gone after this 16-17 season. he is also not a projected lottery pick. if you're saying he would be making a bad decision in that case, then just say that.

the season hasn't even started so who knows if its a good or bad decision yet. i'm not predicting the future. If he dominates this season or even shows flashes of dominance, its a great decision but to say he's "gone for sure" at this point should indicate that he's already at that level or certainly going to reach that level. I'm not saying what I think the outcome of the year will be, I'm just operating off the premise that we have 3 players gone for sure before a second of basketball has been played.

Thats just how i'm interpreting it. I don't know why people would be angry that someone on the internet interpreted something in an incorrect way
" gone for sure" - lottery picks
"maybe gone" - anyone with draft potential
" coming back for sure" - people with no draft potential

i'd just be happy to finish top 4 acc and compete with the cheats and the dookies. some noise in the acc (duke is going to decimate everyone) and a bid to the ncaa with a win or two would be a winning scenario in my book. not expecting much more than that

I don't know if caught more than 2-3 games all season and I didn't really watch much the year before so I'm not the most qualified to critique abu's game .

But can he shoot at all? I mean I'm looking at his stats and he didn't attempt a single 3 pointer. He averaged 0.4 steals and 0.7 blocks. So obviously his "athleticism" is supremely overrated. He's only 6'8 so you gotta wonder if he would be able to rebound in the nba. He doesn't make free throws so that doesn't bode well for his potential to shoot.

Has he ever seen an nba game? Like I'm just trying to think of a single player who went in undersized and couldn't shoot and couldnt average less than half a steal per game who ever got any nba draft hype... i mean ilian evtimov averaged 1.2 steals a game.

Is he like delusional or is this a real thing?

If you just stand on a basketball court and pick up the ball when someone loses their balance you can average 0.4 steals a game

He's definitely not an outside shooter. But he seemed capable from the 10-15 foot range. He's definitely athletic though. Like when he jumps up for a rebound or layup, his ability to hit the floor and jump a 2nd time is very quick. Not Carmelo quick, but he's certainly athletic. That's never really been a question. He had to play out of position a good bit though, and hopefully he'll be more consistent with a couple true centers to play the 5, while he can play his natural fit of the 4. Who knows how his game will translate at the next level. I mean it's apparent most of the NBA personnel he talked to over the last few weeks told him he wasn't ready yet. But not everybody is ready after 1 or 2 years.

listen. kyle washington was starting to develop a jump shot. and then he transferred. that's what abu needs. he's a solid inside guy, but to survive in the NBA as a strong forward he needs to not only play better defense but also formulate some kind of reliable jump shot.

if abu wants to be a first rounder, he needs to start being a double/double type of monster forward.

Don't we have the 10th highest capacity arena of all college bball teams? Or somewhere in the 8-12 range? I mean, it's not like Syracuse has 33k people there for a game versus Albany.

The saddest part of that spreadsheet is that muh Vawls have the 2nd largest arena in the country behind Syracuse's football stadium. Yet muh Vawls aren't even top 15 in attendance. But we're a women's bball school, so I'd like to see that list for muh Lady Vawls.

^yeah, i'm not sure where we rank nationally in stadium capacity, but at ~19k it shouldn't be too surprising that we get a lot of people to games. although, being ranked that high is still impressive either way - i'd be interested to see where we ranked in terms of %capacity. i think i recall that stat being publicized a few years back and we were fairly high

^No this is from last week/weekend. By all accounts from those in attendance(writers/analysts/scouts), they were EXTREMELY high on Dennis Smith Jr. Still think he'd be the #1 PG in the 2016 class if he didn't tear his ACL.

Ridiculous. May as well cancel walking across the street and taking the Wolfline too.

Far more dangerous doing those two things than traveling to fucking Europe.

My guess is this is more cover just to get all these guys practicing together hardcore instead of taking a trip that would be less productive and was planned before we knew we had all these pieces coming in late.

^ I think you'd much rather have the guys practicing against real competition and bonding on an overseas trip than being confined to campus and just playing against each other. Teams really like these types of trips for the growing a team.

^Yeah but if you haven't had a chance to install any sort of offense then I don't know how much just rolling the ball out will help.

I think they are allowed more practice time when teams make these international trip. This decision definitely didn't have anything to do with additional practice time here.

Wonder if they can substitute for a different country/region.

Maybe go play in Asia...any of the time we get extra to play together and learn how each part fits together... the better

Let's not forget LSU just had a top 5 class, with 2 5* kids and a 4* kid and the #1 player in the class, and they didn't make the tournament.

Great recruits doesn't always equate to successful seasons. Lowe landed solid classes and did nothing with them. We just need to hope Gott can learn from past mistakes and actually use his bench effectively.

Sad, but true regarding LSU. Speaking of the Anya miracle shot, was that the farthest shot he has hit in his career at State (FTs don't count). I seriously cannot remember him making a shot outside the paint.
