I'm voting for Trump. I don't know that I am a big fan of any of the circus clowns who ran this time, but the one person I really don't want in the White House is Sanders and it looks like we won't have to worry about that (Thank God). We need some fresh blood in Washington anyway. With all that being said, I don't think Trump is quite the train wreck people make him out to be, he just speaks the truth, but PC American has declared he is racist for it.
We need to shut down our southern border and quit letting the people from Latin America come here illegally. You shouldn't get an American citizenship just for being born on this side of the border. The illegals have undercut a lot of people in the construction industry and other fields. They are a burden on the health system and other welfare programs. I don't know if Trump will do anything about it, but he sounds more serious about it than the other clowns who have previously been in the oval office.
Obamacare is a joke and it sounds like he wants to get rid of that. Something needs to change with that. Healthcare costs have only gone up, not down.
The terrorists causing trouble in today's world are Muslims. Don't fool yourself, it isn't the IRA. I'm cool with shutting down travel from Muslim states to the USA to some degree.
Also, it was anti-Trump crowds protesting at his rallies. There would have been no violence, if they had stayed away. A black man who supported Trump knocked out a white guy carrying an anti-Trump rebel flag that was wearing a KKK robe. What do you expect to happen in that situation? The people supporting Trump, Rubio, Cruz, etc didn't charge the stage at rallies for Clinton, or Sanders. For the most part, supporters of the Republican candidates behaved themselves. 5/8/2016 2:00:41 PM |

low income people are better off choosing the fine than buying insurance. instead of taking on the insurance industry, obamacare negotiated with it and forced the whole country to become its lifetime customers. 5/8/2016 6:52:15 PM |

^But people's premiums have skyrocketed. My sister can't even afford the monthly premiums offered in Obamacare. The best plan she could find was over $800 a month with an 8,000 dollar deductible. That's not cheaper. A married couple I know who runs their own business went from $300 to over $1,000 a month with a $10,000 deductible for their plan under Obamacare.
As for me, not having insurance for 5 months was a risk I took and I wouldn't have complained, if something happened, I would have just paid the bill for the rest of my life. 5/8/2016 7:35:18 PM |

^^I'm not going to get into the ACA debate, but I will say that I can't stand it when people use car insurance as their example. You aren't required to have auto insurance by virtue of being born. You can choose not to drive. 5/8/2016 8:31:47 PM |

^ yep, and you're also only required to have liability insurance in case you fuck someone else up.
That said, I'm OK with the individual mandate as a least-bad option. The employer mandate is stupid, and the law goes about things in a wrong way and largely missed the point.
Also, fuck you if you actually like Trump. I automatically pass judgment on your intellect, judgment, and as a human being in general, and feel quite comfortable doing so. 5/8/2016 8:41:30 PM |

negative rights like life (the right to not be killed by someone else), freedom of movement, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, a fair trial, etc.
humans do no have rights to positive rights, rights that would require someone else to act to fulfill that right. healthcare, education, housing, etc.

This is a horrible question to answer. There is no good option for 2016. I don't want to throw my vote away on Johnson, because let's face it, he doesn't have a chance. Trump's foreign policy and trade ideas will end up being a nightmare, and we don't really know who he is politically, and Hillary will just end up being more of the same.

It's not a vote thrown away. It's a message to the other parties, primarily the GOP, that they need to start trying to get some votes from folks who are socially liberal and fiscally conservative. Imagine what the GOP would do next time around if they lost this election because a candidate running on the principles of liberty pulled 10% of the popular vote.5/8/2016 10:57:15 PM |

^^^I hear ya, but the chain reaction has already begun. The interesting times are now.
If Lewinsky had never talked to Linda Tripp, or if those old people in Florida had a little more upper body strength to actually punch out those stupid chads, we woulda had a boring Gore presidency. Or maybe McCain coulda played just a little dirtier, and we wouldn't have had Rove's Bush bumbling his way through a terribly difficult decade.
And they shoulda gleefully continued accepting donations from Wall Street, but Clinton and Co. could have at least kept half an eye on them before we all got robbed.
Genuine outsider, Sarah Palin, should never have been a thing--she's a total buffoon whose impact has been enormous. Whoever was behind the Palin idea should be ashamed of themselves. And, while a black presidency is pretty awesome, I suspect a white version of Obama would have calmed the Tea Partiers better. And folks should have taken a short break from their Obama celebrations to go vote in 2010...cause a bunch of bitter racists who probably hadn't voted with any regularity saw Obama get inaugurated and decided to take the country back! by electing a bunch of random idiot lunatics.
And y'all remember that nasty senator who made everybody sign the agreement that they wouldn't be friendly across party lines? What was his name? Holy shit, what an asshole.
We got ISIS. Some states now have just one clinic that is able to provide abortions. The city of New Orleans no longer has a single traditional public school, and other cities are on the path to joining them. We've seen weeks of race riots. In addition to having no direction on the broader environment, we apparently can't even handle the provision of clean drinking water anymore. And Donald Trump sauntered to the nomination without even having to disavow support from the KKK.
The rich white dudes were supposed to meet up in the boardroom to secretly run the world, but I think they went on strike or something.

Quote : | "In fact, a similar anger exists within segments of the white community. Most working- and middle-class white Americans don't feel that they have been particularly privileged by their race. Their experience is the immigrant experience - as far as they're concerned, no one's handed them anything, they've built it from scratch. They've worked hard all their lives, many times only to see their jobs shipped overseas or their pension dumped after a lifetime of labor. They are anxious about their futures, and feel their dreams slipping away; in an era of stagnant wages and global competition, opportunity comes to be seen as a zero sum game, in which your dreams come at my expense. So when they are told to bus their children to a school across town; when they hear that an African American is getting an advantage in landing a good job or a spot in a good college because of an injustice that they themselves never committed; when they're told that their fears about crime in urban neighborhoods are somehow prejudiced, resentment builds over time. Like the anger within the black community, these resentments aren't always expressed in polite company. But they have helped shape the political landscape for at least a generation. Anger over welfare and affirmative action helped forge the Reagan Coalition. Politicians routinely exploited fears of crime for their own electoral ends. Talk show hosts and conservative commentators built entire careers unmasking bogus claims of racism while dismissing legitimate discussions of racial injustice and inequality as mere political correctness or reverse racism. Just as black anger often proved counterproductive, so have these white resentments distracted attention from the real culprits of the middle class squeeze - a corporate culture rife with inside dealing, questionable accounting practices, and short-term greed; a Washington dominated by lobbyists and special interests; economic policies that favor the few over the many. And yet, to wish away the resentments of white Americans, to label them as misguided or even racist, without recognizing they are grounded in legitimate concerns - this too widens the racial divide, and blocks the path to understanding." |
