Regarding the report on which Trump is claiming he was wiretapped. Amazing.

Yes I haven't read that much about it but I believe the mandate money now goes to insurance companies instead of IRS and subsidies are now a refundable tax credit. Doesn't sound like a repeal. What am I missing

Nah. I meant what I said. In this thread and others, you constantly refer to anyone to the left of modern day Republicans as "leftists." This demonstrates a Sean Hannity level of political understanding. You can do better than that. You also use SJW/Liberal/Leftist as interchangeable slurs, without bothering to understand the differences between them.

Leftists are to the left of liberals. That's why they're called Leftists. It does not simply mean that they are to the left of Republicans, which you seem to think it means.

Leftists are more open to socialism, (and in the extreme instances, communism, but I doubt we have any full blown commies on this board). Leftists often view the tenants of capitalism as being incompatible with true democracy. Leftists also view human history through the lens of class struggle and see economic oppression as the common thread that separates the ruling elite from the labor class.

Liberals and Democratic loyalists in the other hand, do not wish to challenge capitalism. They would instead prefer a kinder, gentler form of capitalism. And they think (incorrectly, IMO) that a large and powerful state could be controlled to protect the public good (I.e., social issues), so long as "the right people are in charge." Of course, this type of philosophy also leads to the possibility of "the wrong people being in charge."

Look, man. If you're gonna troll, at least be precise with your trolling. TWW deserves that much, at least.

^^ What you said is out of date.

Looking at the positions of the GOP vs RNC in 2016, a classical liberal would have more in common with the RNC on most issues.

The DNC isn't "liberal" anymore, they are regressive. Without any civil rights fronts, they aren't needed... they know this so they have tried to invent more. They've doubled down on collectivist Marxist identity politics victimhood bullshit. When you can see through that, you realize they are just big gov authoritarians pushing marxism.

Conservatives are the new liberals at this point

He's considering cutting coast guard, TSA (i'm fine with this...) and FEMA to fund the wall, lol.

such a monumental waste of money, and GOP seems to be content to sit back and let it happen.

^^Coast Guard isn't insignificant, either. If I recall, several German submarines were sunk by the Coast Guard off the coast of the U.S. in WW2.

And since Trump is pissing off Mexico, not only will this have an impact on drug smuggling but human smuggling as well.

I mean, who does Trump think has actually been keeping South Americans and southern Latin Americans from getting through to our border?

Lol.

Not that he has any credibility anyway but this is basically a fuck you to Trump which will either show he is lying or show there was probably cause for surveillance.

Either way, as stated this will make Trump look bad.

you're making a dangerous assumption in that it there's no way the allegation could be true. bonus points if the surveillance warrant allowed them to search Trump's computer, but all they found was documentation of Obama being born in Kenya

I feel pretty confident Obama didn't tap Trump Tower phones outside of the law as Trump claimed.

You don't get to move goalposts and claim that isn't what he was claiming.

no moving goalposts - I'm fully onboard with the possibility that Obama pushed for wiretaps on Trump with either no probable cause or fabricated probable cause. It's also possible that Trump went on a 3 day coke bender and tweeted out some paranoid delusion. What scares me is that so many of you on this board are fully on board with the latter but can't fathom the first as having any possibility whatsoever.

you seem to be missing the most likely scenario of a warrant existing not because obama pushed for it

trump, and his trumpettes, have pushed the goal post from "obama wiretapped me" to "see, there was a warrant"

if obama pushed for a warrant he has a lot of people lying for him, and its a dumb lie because trump should be able to show evidence of this pretty easily

obama pushing for a warrant is a pretty big deal. there being a warrant that obama didn't push for should be a big deal for trump but no one has cared so far so it won't be.

^^^^Let's say the first is a real possibility:

Is randomly tweeting about it to the world the course of action a rational person would take, assuming they are the POTUS and has the ability to uncover the truth and obtain proof?

also, trump does seem to have made his tweets based on mark levin and used news articles to support his belief instead of listening to anyone inside his administration or simply releasing the warrant. i'm not saying that he was on a 3-day coke binge, but trumps own action demonstrate he was being either paranoid or just a dumb pawn.

tweeting gets everyone into an uproar and forces the media to cover the situation. And with the media being the shitshow that it is nowadays, he's forcing the media to draw up their narrative before finding out the facts. If there does turn out to be evidence of wrongdoing on the part of the Obama administration, the left-wing media has lost the ability to downplay the situation after the articles they ran in the past few days.

You're also ignoring that this POTUS is fighting an uphill battle against the incumbents in the DOJ. There's still a lot of housecleaning to be done there before he can trust the information he's getting out of them. Anyone involved in this situation at the DOJ would be doing everything they could to cover up their tracks. Making the issue a public spectacle would certainly complicate matters with cleaning up evidence of wrongdoing.

its adorable that eluesis thinks that "the left media" is ignoring the warrant story because it makes obama look bad. someone connected to trump being investigated under a FISA warrent doesn't make obama look bad, it makes trump look bad.

and this is all if a warrant exists, which seems to be based on questionable online media posts that reference twitter rumors. trump has the power to show the warrant, he can release it to congress or declassify it and release it publicly.

eleusis, you have majorly fallen for this story, you got played hard. majorly cuckolded.

I'm trying to understand where this mentality came from?

The only frustrations I've ever really had with the media are:
1) they are terrible at forcing candidates to answer the question in debates
2) in their quest for ratings, they'll flood your front page with inconsequential nonsense stories
3) they do push a bit too much regarding political correctness

Like, regarding point 2, today on cnn.com you can see headlines for:
Schwarzenegger's theory on Trump
How to remember almost anything
Arch seen in 'Game of Thrones' collapses

I'd consider all three of those to be absolute pointless and a waste of time. But I don't think the media is a shitshow because of it.

Is it because they keep asking questions on the same topics? Because if so, I imagine they'd stop if people would 1) answer them and 2) stop lying, forcing them to ask again and again

But with respect to fundamental reporting, reporting accurately and actually doing their jobs I have seen no problems.

you're severely mistaken - the media jumped hard into the warrant story, attacking Trump in the process for making claims with no evidence. CNN and MSNBC couldn't help themselves in putting "Baseless" and "Conspiracy" in the title of every article. If evidence was presented at the same time the claim was made, CNN and MSNBC would have been inclined to look the other way. Now they're hitched to this story, regardless of the outcome.

Further to this point, Trump made a claim that has zero basis aside from Breitbart referencing a BBC report (that the author herself said is not what she reported in terms of conclusions). The Russian claims are made based on a ton of independent news outlets reporting with consistency amongst each other and themes emerging from our intelligence agencies. On top of that, every time a subject mentioned in those reports is asked or interviewed, they say something, then we find out they lied, then they change their story, then we find out they lied again, then they change the story AGAIN.

So, yes, Trump's claims are baseless. The Russian stuff, on the other hand, is not simply because the actions of the people themselves. The lying alone immediately makes this stuff highly suspicious.

I'm not too up in arms about the Sauds. I mean they are the single greatest cause of militant Islam in the world but until that turns into an existential threat, I'm fine making them the regional superpower as long as they continue to be anti-Russia and to assist with keeping oil prices stable (and where we want them).
