I don't care if 25% of the population understands it, I care if the president does.

Two things:

1) he can have his AG investigate her more if he wants. People shouldn't get away with things just because they are powerful (Kushner included) and if she did something worthy of punishment that's fine.

2) Clinton and Obama have taken up personal residence in his head. He is OBSESSED.

He can't actually, this is not how things work in a democracy. A president can't direct his agencies to investigate someone for political reasons.

The agencies themselves can investigate specific allegations of wrongdoing, but Trump isn't making any specific allegation, and Clinton has been thoroughly investigated for her emails-- there's no reason for any agency to take this up.

It's gonna pass. Convinced of it.

It's abhorrent and it will probably end up costing lives but it'll get us to single payer more quickly in all likelihood.

Ohhhhhh man......John McCain's final act as a human is going to be to viciously rip away health care from millions of Americans. That's just perfect.

I've seen conflicting reports about what this vote is actually for.

Are they actually voting on a bill? Or are they voting to open discussions about a bill?

It's a motion to proceed.

Trump is doing the impossible and making me feel a bit of sympathy for Jeff Sessions. But then I remember how shitty of a person Sessions is and it passes.

More evidence of the fact that if you try and help this psychopath he WILL savagely embarrass you publicly. Why is ANYONE agreeing to work with this child? Is it really worth it?

McCain gives a speech about being equal to the president and they don't have to do everything he wants them to do. Maybe a more effective speech if you hadn't just flown across the country and voted for something he wanted yet again when anyone in their right mind (even on the far right) would give you a pass if you had just simply stayed home

I used to despise him when he would pull stuff like that, but now I feel sorry for him. He seems to be someone who underwent sustained chronic low-level emotional abuse/mocking for a major part of his childhood (which also resulted in mild brain damage to areas responsible for self-esteem and emotional maturity), and is now trying to avenge it. That could possibly explain this kind of behavior. Any other armchair psychologists want to speculate?

Great case study for psychologists.

Utterly bizarre.

Trump was a complete embarrassment in his meeting with the Lebanese Prime Minister. He credited him with being on the front line in the fight against Hezbollah, which happens to be a big part of his government. He also showed himself to be woefully unprepared when asked about the issues regarding Hezbollah's role in the region and sanctions:

If trans people get a medical discharge, will they still be service-connected with the VA? I would think Trump would push for a dishonorable d/c considering he doesn't consider them equal human beings. Crazy to think that someone who was injured fighting for our country would be denied VA medical care for said injury because of their gender, but I can totally see it happening.

There is really nothing in Trumps history to show he is anti-LGBTQ. In fact, quite the opposite.

But anyone with a brain knew he was going to suck for them given the people he surrounded himself with. Sessions, Permins, etc.

And Pence especially. His take on women in the military in 1999 is LOL. Basically said men can't not fuck any woman. Mother doesn't trust him around men or women apparently.

Trump is pure genius. He plays the right card everyday and his opponents still haven't caught on to what he's doing and think he's some sort of an idiot doing random shit at random times. He knows how everyone will react to every move and he knows the ultimate result before he sets it all in motion. Its almost like no one on the left has ever read art of the deal. He's sealing the fate of 2018 and already planting seeds on 2020. He picks the issues that you think are important to you and essentially controls the media without them knowing. As much as I hate him, at some point, you just have to take your hat off to the smartest person in the history of politics.

How is it genius? Everyone knows what he's trying to do, it's obvious he's stirring a culture war up for votes.

It's easy to be manipulative when you throw ethics out the window, voters historically haven't favored politicians willing to do this.

But when Trump ceases to be the most unpopular president in recorded history, the least productive, most internationally mocked president, then maybe we can call him something other than incompetent idiot.

The fact we're in an era where ethics don't matter is not a good thing, it's not something to be cheered for, or to wish for more of.

1. Why not read a book about the strategies used by a successful billionaire with no real talent other than "making deals".
2. In the same way he's not actually the president. Either way, the same sort of logic is being used across the board.

Quote :
""One thing I've learned about the press is that they're always hungry for a good story, and the more sensational the better...The point is that if you are a little different, a little outrageous, or if you do things that are bold or controversial, the press is going to write about you.""

This governs almost everything he does. He makes sure the press is always talking about him. He's done that ever since he came on. Negative press is better than no press. Hell, negative press may even be better than positive press, especially in a world where people don't feel like the media represents them.

Quote :
"Trump says he's not afraid to blur reality to utilize leverage. "When the board of Holiday Inn was considering whether to enter into a partnership with me in Atlantic City, they were attracted to my site because they believed my construction was farther along than that of any other potential partner."

"In reality," he writes, "I wasn't that far along, but I did everything I could, short of going to work at the site myself, to assure them that my casino was practically finished. My leverage came from confirming an impression they were already predisposed to believe.""

He talks things into reality. There was another old trump quote where he talked about how if you repeat something to someone enough times, they will believe it. When he talks, he says things twice and then always ends with "BELIEVE ME". That actually makes people sub consciously believe what he is saying.

Quote :
"Trump says that he prefers to be cooperative and positive, but that sometimes it's necessary to be confrontational when the other side is treating him unfairly or trying to take advantage of him.

"The risk is that you'll make a bad situation worse, and I certainly don't recommend this approach to everyone," he writes. "But my experience is that if you're fighting for something you believe in — even if it means alienating some people along the way — things usually work out for the best in the end.""

Keeping confrontation is key to his strategy. Attacking sessions is completely necessary because it makes him appear genuine. He needs to attack his most important allies because then people will believe he isn't just going to agree with people who helped him. It gives the appearance that he is loyal to only the mission and will cut anyone who gets in the way of his agenda.
Quote :
""You can't con people, at least not for long," Trump writes. "You can create excitement, you can do wonderful promotion and get all kinds of press, and you can throw in a little hyperbole. But if you can't deliver the goods, people will eventually catch on.""

He jumps on all of the low-hanging fruit. All of the things he can easily deliver on, he delivers on and cites that as winning. This transgender thing is delivery to a lot of people at a time when conservatives were doubting him. Perfect timing actually. He also counted on liberals turning this very small issue that only affects a few thousand people into a national issue that polarizes the entire country. The more liberals complain, the bigger the win it becomes for people who don't want transgenders, but didn't really care about it at all two days ago. He uses liberals and the media to create big issues out of non-issues, just so he can win them for the right. He's using you to manufacture unlimited wins for his base.
Quote :
""Trump Tower is a building the critics were skeptical about before it was built, but which the public obviously liked," he writes. "I'm not talking about the sort of person who inherited money 175 years ago and lives on 84th Street and Park Avenue. I'm talking about the wealthy Italian with the beautiful wife and the red Ferrari. Those people — the audience I was after — came to Trump Tower in droves.""

Trump doesn't always sell to the existing market, he sells to the market no one else is selling to and changes the market. This is what he has done with politics. He didn't sell to the traditional republican. He sold to the people on the right whose voices hadn't been heard and traditional republicans had nowhere else to go. Same thing.

Quote :
""Maximize your options."
It's necessary to be flexible, he says.

"I never get too attached to one deal or one approach," Trump writes. "For starters, I keep a lot of balls in the air, because most deals fall out, no matter how promising they seem at first. In addition, once I've made a deal, I always come up with at least a half dozen approaches to making it work, because anything can happen, even to the best-laid plans.""

Without making specific policy or describing strategy in advance, he can market everything as a win.

Trump has 35% of the country guaranteed to vote for him. People think that is low but that doesn't even include many republicans. All he has to do is get 20% of the remaining vote to be re-elected. He's cornering the market early.

Quote :
"The fact we're in an era where ethics don't matter is not a good thing, it's not something to be cheered for, or to wish for more of."

Ethics never mattered. The illusion of ethics mattered. Trump threw the illusion of ethics (PC) out of the window. He did the smart thing. We're in an era of straight shooting. What he does would be like if someone on the left came out and said excessive profits are evil. The base feels that way but politicans won't say it because it will piss off a lot of people. Trump revolutionized American politics. Again, I regret that he is on the other side but I take my hat off. If someone on the left was doing the equivalent, I would have their paraphenlia all over my house so I can relate to his supporters in that sense.
Quote :
" most unpopular president in recorded history, the least productive, most internationally mocked president,."

These are all based on the opinions of liberals. If he was ineffective, the left wouldn't hate him so much. He must be doing something right for the right.

But if its all dumb trolling then how did he win the election? Oh, thats right, because Russia hacked the election. This is the logic that explains why you people are so invested in claiming Russia interfered with our democracy. You can't let go because if so, that means Trump outsmarted you. Theres too much pride on the line.

Only "trolls" like me can reach a point where they admit they were wrong about Trump and wrong about the election. You always seem to paint yourself into a corner by taking the easy road of writing things you can't relate with off as trolling and then having them come true in the long run.

Trump was a failed heir. Do people not remember he was bankrupt until NBC realized fake douches can make them money? I've said time and again he is a great celebrity and that's where his money came from.

He also is likely in MASSIVE debt which is why he doesn't want his tax returns shown. No Russia nonsense but he is likely a fake billionaire.

But Earl falls for it again and again. Motherfucker up in here quoting Art of the Deal like he made his money in business.
