Would those phone numbers have been bought from a phone company or other entity?

I'd assume some other entity, whether it's a voter registration database, some marketing company, etc

I've seen plenty of people on facebook over the last few days post their particular screenshots of the texts they received from Bloomberg's campaign, and often their colorful responses

2 weeks after attacking Sanders for taking small amounts of money from such PACs as DSA, Sunrise Movement, and National Nurses United, Warren has the largest SuperPAC in the race, which has now spent around $15 million on ads.

Very neat https://twitter.com/ewarren/status/1094286090436075521?s=21

I'm officially accepting written apologies from anyone who questioned my early critique on Warren's credibility as a progressive flag-bearer. "2nd best person in the race" is true but not much of a standard in a race consisting of two monsters and a bunch of socially liberal republicans.

https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2020/01/other-swing-voter/604474/

This guy was on NPR and made a pretty good case for the other swing voter that gets ignored for the Obama->Trump voter.

Pretty similar to what dtr has been saying in this thread.

lol everyone projected biden Biden 3 minutes after polls closed with people still in line to vote.

[Edited on February 29, 2020 at 7:27 PM. Reason : gonna be tied in delegates after this blowout]

[Edited on February 29, 2020 at 7:34 PM. Reason : bloomberg is gonna end up helping bernie by splitting these biden voters in the south]

Biden campaign just said the quiet part out loud. They want the women to stay in the race through super tuesday to keep Bernie from winning Minn and Mass.

Wish Klobuchar, Bootyitch, and Warren would go with Steyer. Warren hasn’t come in higher than 4th. Bootyitch just can’t win in diverse states, and Klobuchar with 3% today? Gtfo

i don't see an argument for warren staying in unless they have some kind of internal info or expectation that she will do significantly better than projected on super tuesday

other candidates can argue that they have a chance to win in a contested convention but not warren. the same part of the democratic machine that doesn't want sanders also doesn't want warren (think back to how quick the media started attacking her as soon as she started surging in the polls, only being favorable when she was challenging sanders)

I bring this up because warren said she was staying in to collect as many delegates as she can.

^She can uniquely position herself as a compromise to screw sanders and still keep a lot of progressive democrats in the party.

[Edited on February 29, 2020 at 9:57 PM. Reason : she's going to do very well in a handful of states but you don't need delegates to be nominated]

Pretty surprising Biden's margin of victory today. Polls only had Biden +5 to +20 in the last few weeks.

Its the clyburn effect and if SC was as important as they say, Clyburn would be president.

[Edited on February 29, 2020 at 10:04 PM. Reason : exit poll: 47% of voters said clyburn endorsement play a big role in their vote]

Weird question to ask. Theres never going to be "incentive" to dropping out. The real question is what incentive do they have to keep running and the anti-democratic answer I already gave is the only one.

Delegate breakdown for tonight is so far on Biden 39, Sanders 15. Looking at the math that can with the swing of some votes become 40-14 or 38-16. For the nationwide popular vote from the first 4 contests is Biden is up about 50k now on Sanders although that will change drastically on Tuesday. Sanders still leads in delegates:

Sanders 60, Biden 54, Buttigieg 26, Warren 8, Klobuchar 7 (Majority: 78)

It's no more anti-democratic than all the left-wing 3rd parties you support that have no chance of winning an election being on a ballot.

Ron Paul changed things with just continuing to run with no hope of winning in 2008 and 2012. And then the left-wing version of Ron Paul, Bernie Sanders, did the exact same thing in 2016 of running until the Convention even after it was clear he was not winning the nomination.

This kind of shit is embarrassing.

There is no daylight between this post and Trumps breakdown in 2012 over the electoral college. Statistics is too hard for some people I guess.

Also, Bernie is still a comfortable favorite but Super Tuesday just got interesting. Wasn’t expecting that solid a performance tbh. Bernie was viable across all CDs though, so that is a major positive that wasn’t a given at 8pm last night.

^^ Do people still think Ron Paul wasn’t a virulent racist?

Amy and Pete definitely need to drop out. I would argue Warren is also on thin ice. This is a big setback for Bernie but not the end. The problem is, I don't think Biden is fully coherent and I don't think he can beat Trump to be honest. If the nominee isn't Bernie, there will be a problem of pulling in his base to support the nominee, just like in 2016.

The strongest argument some of these candidates can make for staying in is "might as well." Thats fine for candidates that want a brokered convention, but i dont understand it for candidates who shouldn't want that

Warren would definitely pick up a bunch from Buttigieg and Klobuchar's progressive-leaning supporters who don't want a pseudo-Republican taking control of the party.

I, likewise, would go Warren if Pete were to back out.

One clear reason no one should drop before Super Tuesday is that most people would not hear they dropped prior to Super Tuesday, even more so since many people, such as myself, have already voted.

I think it’s a curious call. Early voting nets a sizable position of the votes, so those will have essentially been for nothing; unless, their data suggests early votes were not in his favor.

I’d still say it’s a curious move, because many still will have missed the news by Tuesday. Steyer volunteering was still adding signs in Raleigh today, for example.

I like Warren but I’m inclined to agree with some of the people on here now who say that if she stays in she is actively now working towards blocking Sanders. Similar with Bloomberg vis a vis Biden.

^I don’t disagree but over past week or 2 I feel like shes trying to position herself as middle road option between biden and sanders, erring more on the side of sanders. Like a compromise type candidate.

She has the same downsides as Sanders, but without the upsides

We also know that so far Sanders is doing better than Warren with moderates and conservatives
