^A college senior who works for me was accepted into Venture for America for next year. He told me about the program and it sounds incredible. While I know very little about Andrew Yang, I like his ideals and hope he has some influence pushing issues during the primaries.

He's mainly against the technical revolution of AI and automation and robotics, tries to save/create human jobs. Yang is basically an Asian Obama--graduated from Ivy league law school, likes playing basketball, etc.

It's Beto. He may as well have shown up to that AIPAC conference eating an Iowa corn dog. He's got that unicorn quality that the Democratic base can't help but fall for and will be an unstoppable force if he runs.

I’d like to see him have more of a record. I hated on Obama the first time for that too.

^ he didn't accept oil PAC money, he accepted money from workers that work in the oil industry. As a texas politician, this would be impossible.

It's disingenuous to say he broke a promise there.

I do think Beto would cave to special interests and lobbyists as soon as he's elected though, if he won. The problem with ACA is that Obama wrote something the insurance companies would be happy with, if we want to fix healthcare, we need to write something doctors and patients would be happy with, and Beto I think would again ask the insurance companies what they want.

He took it from individuals. That appears to be breaking the pledge he signed.

Quote :
"Taking the pledge means that a politician and their campaign will adopt a policy to not knowingly accept any contributions over $200 from the PACs, executives, or front groups of fossil fuel companies "

Unwavering support for single payer should be the bare minimum for the Democrat nominee. If Beto is unwilling to stand up for that, he's not on our side.

lol it's not a revolutionary concept. Freely accessible healthcare is a cornerstone of modern society. It's extremely sad that this is a debate within the "left wing" party of the US in 2018.

I mean...what would you say if the Democrat nominee wanted to privatize our school system?

Bernie is the option. Idc if he's old. No one else hits the policy points, and he has a very strong following.

If Bernie hasn't spent the last 2+ years sheepdogging for the party that cheated him, I'd be more inclined to support him. There is only one party, the business party with two factions, and meaningful progressive change has to come from outside the Dem Party.

Wake me up when we take to the streets.

It doesn't matter who the nominee is, he/she will be pre-approved by the DNC regardless of what voters actually want. Clearly, the Dems have learned nothing and we'll get 4 more years of Trumpism.

I mean he's a terrible option because he's old AF and for a variety of other reasons. The Hillary part is just pointing out the logic of Beto being bad because he couldn't beat Cruz.

All in all, Dems need a winner, not someone who we can play the transitive properties game with.

I agree that's not a good argument. Beto is bad because his policies are bad (or lack-there-of).

Even if he were to win, 8 years of Obama gave us Trump, and nothing substantially good for the working class. No more neoliberals.

I mean if it was only about policy, Warren would win in a landslide. She played herself into an insecure version of Hillary with the whole DNA thing, so she's dunzo.

Beto is a way better public speaker than pretty much every Dem hopeful and he has far more charisma that resonates with middle class people who come from a variety of walks of life. Bernie mostly appeals to angry white people.

Again, who else ya got besides ole Bern?

so is Trump, but I'd hardly call him a masterful orator, given his third grade vocabulary. It's all subjective anyway, but to me, being an excellent public speaker combines a lot of elements (talent/energy/ideas/clarity/nuance/etc) and I'm just not seeing what you're seeing.

Kennedy had it. Obama has it. Beto and Ocasio-Cotez have it.

If you didn't like so much Bernie, he might come across as a wheezing old windbag as opposed to an old sage you tip your ear towards in earnest.

Bernie had crowds going at Clinton rallies, not just his base, you just illogically hate him and it clouds your judgment. And not only can he get crowds going, but hes the true explainer in chief.

I don't hate him. I just don't worship him like a lot of you people do. And I definitely don't want him, or Hillary, or Biden, or Warren or any other bland white bread politician fucking things up in 2020. That's all.

Barbara Streissand and Bob Dylan could draw enormous crowds with adoring fans, but let's not get crazy and call them great singers...
