I figured I might as well make this thread before we lose on the road this week to BC, just to get a head start on things.
Alright, if (when) we fire Gott at the end of this season, who are our #1 candidates:
1. Archie Miller- An alumnus and Great 3 point shooter in college.
2. Billy Donovan- As far as I know, his plane is still circling RDU, waiting for Debbie's call.
3. Bobby Huggins-I've heard whispers that Huggins is interested vis a vis his connection to Terry Henderson. Love his offense. 1/10/2017 12:00:20 AM |

Kevin Keats, UNCW. Up and comer. Realistic hire.

Because unlike in college football there isnt as much of a reason to leave a smaller school if you can sustain success. If all you care about is money then sure but at a school like that you never have to worry about your job or having to schmooze all the super high rated recruits. You bring in kids that fit what you want to do who probably have a chip on their shoulder after getting passed over by bigger schools and you just get yourself into the dance every year and take your chances.1/10/2017 10:26:54 AM |

^I think Hodge would be a fun pick, and he would obviously love to come home.
BUT, with our history of eating our young children, and the difficult spot any NC State coach is put in, coaching down the road from Duke and UNC, I am scared it could end in an ugly divorce; and all of a sudden our greatest ex player cheerleader, fan favorite Jules "When we hungry we eat" Hodge, is now like an awkward ex boyfriend we are still "friendly" with type deal.
I just don't want that man, I just don't want to lose Jules. I thought I lost him when he got shot in that drive-by shit, and I don't want to run the chance of losing him again.

Getting an Alum to come coach at a power 5 sounds cool and all, but unless that Alum is like, an elite established coach, it often ends in a disaster.
This works at small schools where the fan base can just be all Ra Ra with an Alum at the helm, but at the power 5 level, we expect results and quick. This is not a job to get cute and hire an inexperienced, and frankly unqualified Alum. 1/10/2017 6:56:03 PM |

Leonard Hamilton is 68. That man looks great for 68. He is from Gastonia so he has ties to the area and while he is old I could see him easily guiding our program for the next 20 years.

His Atlantic 10 squad would run our ACC squad out of the gym. He has 0 NBA players. They play team defense. Currently 19th in the country whereas we will be 110+ after tonight.
Imagine what he could do with a talented ACC roster like ours. DSJr, Abu, Yurt, etc. He has Dayton performing better than us. What more do you need to know? He's an alum, he's 39, and he is already a proven winner. This year could be four straight 25 wins in the best non-power 5 basketball league.
