Favorite albums so far:

Drab Majesty - The Demonstration
Sampha - Process
The Menzingers - After the Party
The XX - I See You
Sinai Vessel - Brokenlegged
Priests - Nothing Feels Natural

Japandroids and Cloud Nothings albums were both kind of snoozers to me, despite the fact that I typically enjoy both bands. Both albums have some really enjoyable songs though.

Overall there have been lots of great individual songs and singles out for upcoming albums. Some of the main ones I'm looking forward to in the near future are:

Slowdive
Jesus and Mary Chain
Father John Misty
Mew
Minus the Bear
You'll Never Get to Heaven
Day Wave
No Joy

exactly

knowing nothing about the band members, I always assume they're all 19 and they came of age 5-6 years ago and missed out on the chill wave wave

Loess - Pocosin turned out to be seriously disappointing, despite being one of my all-time favorite electronic groups. Hopefully Clark's new release won't disappoint.

^ for sure. set tonight was good too. No Joy was honestly my disappointment tonight, and that was who I really expected to enjoy the most based on the other 2x i saw them.

glad to see the cigarettes after sex album will be new material and not stuff re-hashed from previous EPs etc. I loved those songs but I've been dying for new material for a while.

Anyone checked out Pitchfork's, "OK Computer at 20"? I have the poster of that album at my desk. I really like the visual representation of "Let Down".

one can only take so much Father John Misty coverage

Dante High - Parking Lot Soul

Featuring Ari Picker and other former members of Lost in the Trees. They had their first ever show at Nightlight on Friday night and it was a fun time. The other 2 songs on their EP are great too.

^^^ will check out.

Albums that have been getting a lot of play this week:

David Bazan - Care (his best in quite a while imo. love this)
WebsterX - Daymares (milwaukee hip hop debut)
Braveyoung - Misery & Pride (Portland by way of NC dudes formerly known as Giant. Excellent ambient/drone/orchestral)

Looking forward to the new Mastodon album friday. a couple others off the top of my head that i'm not recalling atm.

^ yes, Process is one of my favorites of the year so far.

New Mastodon is good. They don't blow me away anymore, but they're a super consistent band. Last 3 tracks end strong.

Now I'm onto the new You'll Never Get to Heaven album. (Talk about extreme opposites back to back)
