Unlike the saying "good defense leads to offense" or whatever...our offense leads to defense. Which is bad since it requires some easy buckets before we consider playing defense. But it's like we get a breakaway dunk or easy transition points and suddenly we up the defensive intensity because we decide "hey dunks are fun let's do more". But we rarely never start a game with defensive intensity.

Play probably should've been stopped to see if Anya's elbow was a flagrant. It wasn't stopped so we picked up a charge + the flagrant. The next and-1 called on Beejay was weak af too.

Have you seen our other big men play? They aren't particularly good either. Abu is having a good game today...finally. But he hasn't really been consistently effective on either end of the court this year

Anya isn't great. He's actually played with some intensity on defense in recent games...can't really be said for other bigs on the team

This is not a good defensive team.

But it's hard to get better or improve if breathing gets you a foul. College officiating is so skewed it's infuriating. Duke and Virginia get to clutch, grab, and rub however fuck much they want just because they are considered to be "good" defensive teams.

No they aren't. Unfortunately they really aren't. Offensively they are. Defensively yurt is absolute garbage, soft as hell and is getting abused today. Abu has been inconsistent as hell all year. Kapita can't get off the bench. I'm not saying Anya is good. The others are just not as good as y'all think

but better.

and no one thinks the others are good. but better. and way more potential. anya's showed us what he is. lazy, slow, apathetic, lives for the highlight block at the expense of rebounding and defensive fundamentals. with all that taken into consideration, and with the others being underclassmen with brighter futures, you could even argue "significantly".

^^ yep. Yurt isn't effective at all defensively against strong big men. He plays well against smaller lineups but he's soft and weak. Abu just can't guard a 5 with height.
