henderson and dorn are doing basically what they did at WVU and UNCC , henderson a bit more infact ...

Rowan is basically the same. And Yurtseven is not exactly the impact big man everyone hoped, because he needs more time to build strength.

Maybe we were all wrong about our "talent" level? Cause outside of DSJ and maybe yurt on the downside, everyones dont pretty much exactly what they've always done

They live off points inside the arc. I doubt they get those against us.

They don't shoot threes at all. That's our main weakness defensively.

Defensively they are horrid.

They are hopelessly tall and have zero depth.

I like NC State vs the spread. This has all the makings of a 30+ point game that might only be a 15 point spread.

yeah i think that argument could be made to an extent. i also think it's a case of not maximizing and developing talent, which is obviously on the staff. especially in the case of a guy like Abu. he's athletic, strong, etc but he's not a great basketball player...not like we expected him to be (similar to CJL to a degree).

just looking at offensive stats here...Hendy and Mav (and Dorn, but he has far fewer attempts) both shoot over 40% on 3PT FGs. that's pretty damn good. i would disagree with you and say that Mav has improved this year. he still jacks shots up and isn't efficient all the time...but he's expanded his game to include more than just 3PT shots. Dorn, early in the year, was a very efficient player but has slumped recently...IMO due to his reduced minutes and unable to get in a rhythm offensively.

i do think we overestimated what we would get from Yurtseven this year...and probably Abu as well. But in terms of offensive production, i think Henderson and Dorn have been roughly what we expected from them.

none of this, of course takes into account our shit ass defense.

in short...yes, i think our talent may not be as "elite" as we thought...but it's certainly good enough to be a NCAAT team. the staff has failed to develop some of the guys (Beejay and Abu are the big ones on this years roster IMO) which contributes to the talent issue as well. ultimately, this is an NCAAT roster and instead we're at the very bottom of the ACC and may not finish .500 overall.

It's either the recruiting experts who continually rank our classes top 15/25 are bad or Gott is bad. One or the other. I will let you decide.

Our roster is easily better than Clemson, BC, VT, GT, Wake, Pitt, Miami. I would argue better than ND, UVA, Syracuse as well. Louisville, UNC, Duke, FSU (this year with Isaac/Bacon) are better by it is not like miles better.

^^I used to use the Thuuz app and add a bunch of different cable/sat providers (basically just TWC and DirecTV in Raleigh, Charlotte and WGHP) and pull up the channel numbers that way

^^Agreed. I think only UNC, Louisville and FSU have comparable talent with us. Duke has the right star values but they are seriously overrated IMO. It's hard to believe a competent coach couldn't finish top 5 in the ACC this year with our roster easily.

his minutes have been very up and down. his FT shooting has been pretty bad since ACC play started.

i just don't think Gott is comfortable with a rotation of more than about 8 guys. we haven't had many deep teams since he's been here, but the couple of deep rosters we have had, he's still stuck pretty consistently to a 8 man rotation. which is not necessarily a bad thing in and of itself...but i'm not sure he's a great roster manager either.
