I think he's exactly what we need. This guys teams get after it. Tough aggressive defense and always looking to get out in transition. Very uptempo and guys look for shooters in transition.

He turned UNCW around instantly. Won three reg season titles in 3 years. Twice the CAA champions. And then played both Duke and Uva extremely tough in the tournament.

Hes not a retread and he comes in riding a ton of momentum. Hes a perfect age 44. I think he will recruit well and land a few transfers to get us headed in the right direction.

We really need a disciplinarian and coaching staff that gets rid of this bum ass lazy stench we have had on us the past decade.

I'd be shocked if people don't get behind his style of play once they see it. That said, next year could be a rough transition if we can't find a PG.

Since last season my coaching wish list was Archie #1 Keatts #2. Don't know what the fuck is going on with the Miller's but it became apparent that wasn't happening. I have family at UNCW and he's been amazing there. Love the way his teams play, love his coaching background, love that he's young but not a neophyte. Let's do this shit.

It'll be interesting to see what he does with the roster. At UNCW his first year he mostly turned them around with the same shlock they had there. Then in year 2 the transfers and his own recruits started to bleed in but he still started this plodding 7 footer against Duke and such. This year's team was very much his own roster and the results were terrific.

I wonder if he tries to keep our guys together or just tells them to fuck off if they want so he can free up scholarships. Would be painful next season but may let him build the program the way he wants quicker in the long run

i think there will be enough scholarships where that there won't be need to try to free any up. DSJ and Anya are gone. i'm pretty sure we were one under the scholarship limit this year, so there's 3 open scholarships. and he's not gonna bring in a ton of guys this offseason...usually in the coach's first season he doesn't have much time to really shake up the roster with new additions since he'd have a very small recruiting window.

It depends. Most coaches dont try to rock the boat too much in year 1. Gott came in and revamped the schedule (we dont make the Tourney that year without this) and didnt need to do much else besides bring in Alex Johnson because the roster had talent.

Keatts is in a different situation because his teams play a different style. Actually think most of the roster isn't a bad fit for it if they're willing to put in the work though. Anya wouldnt be, but he's gone. Rowan is a question mark. Keatts loves 3s but needs guys who can press. Everyone else could work but I don't know where they're at. Know there were rumors about Markell transferring for instance

yeah i guess i meant more in terms of getting new guys in...he could definitely lay out his expectations and a guy like Rowan decides it's not for him. but yeah, doesn't seem like it'd be realistic to expect too many new faces on the roster next year...just such a short window for that to happen.

completely turned around UNCW in a very short time frame. 3 years before Keatts...UNCW went 29-63 (13-39). 3 years since Keatts arrived they went 72-28 (41-13) and finished first or tied for first in reg season standings every year....won the tourney twice. his offensive numbers are great and he's known as a great recruiter. coached under Pitino when UL won the national title.

the cons, of course are his defensive stats and i guess his overall lack of experience.
