I was pulling for the Leafs to beat the Caps in hopes that the Rangers had a chance to beat all Canadian teams on the way to the cup (would have been Montreal, Ottowa, Toronto, Edmonton).

An all-Canadian final would be funny just to witness the gnashing of teeth by the NHL and NBC.

^Only two of them left.

Last year I was filled with glee that no Canadian team even made the playoffs.

On the balance Rangers should be moving on tonight. Shame it's only 2-2.

But this thing exploded tonight. Gonna be an even more physical finish..

Losing by 1 each of the first two games was pretty demoralizing, but a total score of 8-2 in the last 2 games has to have them riled up.

I read somewhere that in best of 7 series across NHL, MLB, and NBA, after going 2-2, the winner of game 5 wins the series at a rate of something like 80%. It's even higher when it's the visiting team who wins. Point being Rangers absolutely need to win game 5.

Thinking your team has won, moments later finding out they didn't, and minutes later losing.

If you thought that goal was gonna count you weren't watching very closely.

Another year of Lundqvist's career wasted. WTG!

Other than game 6, the Rangers were in it for every single game down to the buzzer. Games 2 and 5, on the road, scoring 5 and 4 goals in each game respectively, and that wasn't enough to avoid overtime? Some of that is on the defense being out of position, but Lundqvist has got to do better than that. I still love him and all he does, but you can't say the rest of the team "wasted" this chance for him.

20 goals scored and they still only won 2 games. That's what giving up 19 of them, 2 in overtime, will do to you.

Twelve years he's been the starter. He's never been given a team where he wasn't asked to be the best player. There's never enough goal support.

In 2012 he had a 1.82 playoff GAA (only Jon Quick, the Conn Smythe winner, was better) and they couldn't score enough to get him to the finals. He's second (after Hasek) all-time in playoff save percentage among goalies with at least 100 starts.

Could he have been better here and there in these playoffs? Yes. The fact remains that Lundqvist's career is winding down, and as it stands, the Rangers have wasted the greatest goaltender in their history.

I'm not talking about the last 12 years, I'm talking about this year. The Rangers did not wast this year of Lunqvist's career, as you said they did.

20 goals over 6 games is as good goal support as you can ask for. That's the same number of goals the Penguins scored in 7 games to win this round.

Third-best numbers amongst 16 starters in these playoffs. The Rangers don't even make it out of the first round without sterling performances from Lundqvist.

To reference the two OT goals is even more comical. A weak, lazy pinch by Nick Holden leads to a 2-on-1 in double OT and you want to point to Lundqvist? Dan Girardi forgets how to play defense and it's the goalie's fault?

24 years since the last Canadian team won the cup.

I'll take it.
