His version of sad sad city is probably my most favorite live cover.

this has been making me a sad panda all day

soundgarden/cornell have consistently been one of my go-tos since they came out to make me feel energized and motivated

^ me too.

I mean, scott weiland’s death was kind of a bummer, but that wasn’t surprising-- everyone pretty much knew it was inevitable.

By all appearances Chris Cornell was past all of his old demons, but clearly not.

Other than Nirvana, Chris Cornell/Soundgarden/audioslave was the only other band I loved from my early 90s teen angst years that I never saw live.

apparently they closed his last show earlier that evening with a cover of Led Zeppelin's "In My Time Of Dying."

""Fell on Black Days" was like this ongoing fear I've had for years...It's a feeling that everyone gets. You're happy with your life, everything's going well, things are exciting—when all of a sudden you realize you're unhappy in the extreme, to the point of being really, really scared. There's no particular event you can pin the feeling down to, it's just that you realize one day that everything in your life is Fucked!"

That's eery. They had an acoustic set on Lithium yesterday where he basically described the same meaning for writing "Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart". Everything is going great and somehow you're reminded everything is fucked and you're supposed to be miserable.
