Last time was what 2012? But it's possible people attempt it more often than we are aware of and it gets caught.

I've heard unconfirmed sources citing the shooter asking questions as to which field was populated by which party.

Giffords was 2011, right?

We are actually pretty lucky to be in an era with relative little political violence in this country.no

[Edited on June 14, 2017 at 9:40 AM. Reason : ^ that was what I was referring to. It was GOP member who said it but no confirmation it was shooter]

^^^,^yea, if you include people jumping the whitehouse fence, etc, I bet REAL threats and near violence are more prevalent than we think. Still, a lot of those people aren't typically armed like this guy seems to have been.

i'm not talking crazy person jumps a fence, i'm talking about actual violence or assassinations. only top congressional leaders have any kind of security, and even with that they are exposed at many public events.

given how little accountability our government has, how disenfranchised so many are, and how easy it is to buy weapons, I've always been amazed this doesn't happen frequently

give it time for facts to come out, the person who said that gave a description that doesn't match descriptions for the shooter

the only fact we know is that the shooter was white, otherwise he wouldn't have been taken into custody alive

James T Hodgkinson.

Looks like a Bernie bot socialist on FB, is it relevant? Not really, but if the shoe were on the other foot you know the MSM would be going apeshit with some "right wing radicalism" narrative

I'd be surprised if his Bernie fandom wasn't all over the place. Some GOP congressman are already running with the "rhetoric"'angle.

Media is sensationalized no matter what side it's on.

Not to the same extent, not even close.

The left's constant reliance on character assassination, convincing their stupidest supporters that the opposition is ____ist, ___phobic, fascist, literally Hitler... convincing their supporters they are oppressed victims and that republicans are evil Nazis... not even close to compare

FOX is the largest because it is the only right-wing news channel, whereas all the others are left leaning.

Since it is "the other" FOX is widely known to be biased to the right, while most Americans aren't as aware of the leftist-leanings from MSNBC, CNN, and the rest.

The problem is when the left pushes their politics on America through mediums not meant for politics...

Social Apps like Snapchat are pushing anti-Trump shit 24/7
Comedy Central, supposed to be comedy, only mocks conservatives & covers for leftists
ESPN, supposed to be sports, pushes the Jenner courage award, Colin Kapernick BLM bullshit
Hamilton, supposed to be a musical, pushes their SJW shit on Mike Pence
Bioware, supposed to be making video games, starts forcing tranny SJW bullshit in their games
Audi, supposed to be selling cars, starts parroting the long-debunked gender wage gap myth

The left and their agenda is being force-fed to Americans everywhere. So when something is sensationalized, it isn't even close in terms of effect. Yes, a bunch of 60 year olds watch Fox News, but the left has complete control of media and influences many well-intentioned, gullible, useful idiots.

Hobby Lobby, supposed to be selling crafts, pushes evangelical christian views by not providing insurance coverage for contraceptives.
Chic-fil-a, supposed to sell sandwiches, pushes bigotry by donating money to anti-LGBT organizations.

Slightly different because these are religious views rather than political, but lets be honest, they go hand-in-hand.

No. Not even close.

Those examples are passive, they have no effect on the customer experience.

The other examples I listed, just by using the product, Americans are subjected to propaganda/political agendas that have nothing to do with the initially advertised product.

Who Chick-fil-a donates money to has no effect on a customer... that's why I didn't mention 100% of Twitter employee political donations going to the democrats. As long as I can use the product as advertised without some leftist propaganda forced in, that's fine. And an employer like Hobby Lobby not providing something, regardless of reason, has no impact. It is a negative, so it isn't forcing anything on anyone.

It seems he was charged with that but from what I've read he punched a woman and dragged his daughter out of a house by the hair. His wife was also arrested.

THEN when the ladies boyfriend showed up to confront him about punching his GF guy puts a shotgun in his face!

Can we turn this into a white privledge thread?

Not much sympathy for a Tyson foods lobbyist who was just someone out there "helping" with the game simply because he had a "love for baseball". He didn't deserve to be shot but doesn't deserve more attention than the dozens of other people who are shot in this country each day.

Only Rand Paul can decide what a tyrannical government is!!!

Also, had policy does not equal tyranny. Didn't when Obama did it, doesn't now.

if the 2nd amendment is to respond to tyranny, at what point is the government tyrannical enough to allow the exercise of that right? The US is an oligarchy, the average voter has no impact, most congressional seats are safe so there is no accountability, rights are increasingly being eroded... if the 2nd amendment is to secure a free state at what point have those freedoms been sufficiently eroded?

Who is doing that?

Most of us on here, with a few exceptions, are actually pretty pro-guns rights (which is the topic at hand). Seems like you are creating a strawman yet again and arguing against it.
