I don't know how the toll was reported in such erratic jumps, but 515 people did not get shot. 515 got injured because of the incident.

Stampedes and crushes in a small concentrated area can be deadlier/more injurious than bullets being shot into the crowd. Stampedes/crushes can (and have) kill/injure hundreds, even thousands, within minutes.

That's what must have happened to get such a high number of injured.

I doubt anyone would have paid that much attention to a guy with 2-3 large suitcases in Vegas. Vegas also has a ton of shooting ranges around, so a person showing up with rifles probably isn't an uncommon site.

Was he staying in some sort of penthouse suite? the two busted out windows from the pictures I've seen appear to be at least 30' apart.

The fact people couldn't figure out where it was coming from and so they all just layed down thinking that was the smart thing to do just made it so much worse in this situation. None yet. Shooter was a wealthy old white man, no criminal history (that we know of so far).

Family thought he was normal. Neighbors thought he was rude because he wasn’t social.

I’d be shocked if he didn’t have a manifesto in his hotel room. Interesting choice of country music festival as a target but this could mean many things. ISIS has claimed responsibility but police are saying there’s no evidence for it.
