Yeah he has been unstoppable this series. Even more impressive considering how many minutes he's played all season up until now. Easily the best offensive performance of his career in the playoffs this year.

LeBron for sure great, and I know he wants to get into a team situation where he can make one last 2-3 year push to challenge the Warriors but what I don't get is what does LeBron expect at this point in terms of the team he can be with or build to compete with the Warriors?

They essentially had a perfect mix of timing with salary cap, a significantly under-payed MVP player, and a group willing to take a bit less money. Even if LeBron could pick any players in the league to form a team, if they all want max money it simply doesn't work. Players either have to take paycuts, some massive, and even then it is a challenge as the rules work best to allow Golden State to keep their built roster vs. building a roster.

I know this has little to do with this season, but it just bothers me how at the end of the day the math of a team to beat Golden State doesn't work and if LeBron wants that he needs to take a huge paycut to help build that type of roster and doesn't seem willing(plus not sure if the player's association would even allow). If LeBron really wants to win championships and beat the Warriors he should just play for like 5 million a year so that money can be used to build the roster he needs. I guess that is why Philly has some appeal because he can roll with those young players for next few years till they all hit their salary bumps.

NBPA isn't going to stop a player from taking less than the max. But LeBron isn't going to do it. That plus his insistence on one year/short term deals will keep him from joining/building a team equal to the warriors.

I think they could challenge the Warriors if he were to just hop on Philly's squad. Even then, the Warriors would still be a pretty big favorite, but Philly would have a puncher's chance if he keeps up this level of play for another couple of years.

What about all of this talk of LeBron joining Houston? Don't think him joining that squad could contend with the Warriors?

I don't think it's a foregone conclusion he stays in the East to be honest, just not a strong enough team for him to join to contend and I don't see any team just bringing him in and trying to build a 2-3 year contender around him. Philly makes the most sense in the East, but they're already getting roughed up by Boston missing 2 All-Star level players who should be back next year.

^^i don't think there is any way that Houston can afford Harden, Paul and Capela if LeBron joined them. Also, they are thriving with two ball-dominant players, but it seems like 3 would be a bit much.

LeBron's choice to play on essentially single year contracts will really limit where he can go. A GM has to be willing to pretty much blow up a team for a one year shot at a title. I would be very, very surprised to see a team like Philadelphia get rid of multiple talented young players in order to rent James for a year. I honestly think he still ends up a Laker next year, although I'm sure he'd rather be in the east where he can coast all season long.

its ryan anderson that would prevent Rockets from signing Lebron this summer, not Harden, Paul or Capela. The rest is about whether Paul and Lebron would take less than max to play together.

Last year it was 99.9% decided before the season started that it would be Cleveland vs Golden State again. this year at least there has been some surprises and fresh blood making noise.

Is it really any different though?

If you had to go back before the season started and someone asked you to pick the conference finals, you're telling me you wouldn't get 75% of them right without even thinking about it? I'm fairly certain most NBA fans would have gotten it 100% right.

Cavs vs Celtics was clearly the favorite scenario for the East, esp. before injuries and mid-season trades.

Warriors were a lock to be in the Conference Finals and most would pick them to be the Finals. I also think most would have selected the Rockets given the pieces they added.

Sure some surprise teams MADE the playoffs, but at this point, this is basically preseason chalk going at it. The only way this isn't just as boring as last year is if the Warriors manage not to win the championship.

I think the Celtics making it this far without Hayward and Irving is pretty damn surprising.

Also somewhat surprising that Draymond didn't get ejected last night. I mean he should have been, but it doesn't really surprise me that he didn't. The refs are scared they're gonna get suspended.

He shoved Harden because Capella hit him in the head and he thought Harden did it. He shouldn’t have complained about it to the refs, but it didn’t warrant an ejection any more than CP3’s dirty ass for what he did to Durant later on.

Lmao comparing the paul elbow to the draymond shove

And 2 minutes laters draymond berated the ref about the pj foul, prob a tech if he didn't already have one

Yeah, that's kind of what I was getting at. Green should have picked up a 2nd technical before the 1st quarter was over, but the refs are scared of the players complaining to the media about refs having agendas and being on power trips.

^nothing in that game warranted an ejection from anyone , so I don't know what is either surprising or unsurprising about DG not getting ejected.

you people will NEVER convince me that Chris nut-punching Paul isn't a dirty-ass player.

I'm just replying to justin's dumb comment about a non-ejection being simultaneously surprising/unsurprising. Oh, and the fact that the shove didn't warrant an ejection. Collectively, we can all agree that CP3 is lying, nut-punching, bitch. I'm also not even really trying to defend DG's overall reputation for being dirty, because he pretty much deserves it too. Context is key.

By ejection I mean getting a 2nd technical foul. Which Green most definitely deserved when he yelled at the ref.

I was mostly responding to justin and rwoody, not you

Sometimes it helps when people type out sentences that make logical sense and are easy to understand. If you watched the game live, you would have heard the outcry/outrage of all the Houston fans when Draymond shoved Harden; many of them wanting an immediate rejection or a flagrant. I brought up CP3's elbow to Durant to show how dumb it would have been to eject either player.
